I was shouted at and humiliated by the store manager earlier (who spends his time dancing around the store and shouting at the top of his lungs) after I asked the tall guy with ginger hair and a big ginger moustache behind the counter to kindly remake my drink, as I was served a cold milky latte and not a flat white as requested, who also argued it was a flat white which is "exactly the same as a latte but smaller". Bless.
Redhead moustache guy then brought over a remake and it was exactly the same - cold and a latte. He then kept looking over at me from behind the counter and smirking. He even muttered something to himself after he delivered the drink. It later occurred to me that these two must be having an affair, as I can't fathom for the life of me why the manager would leap to his defence after such shoddy customer service (poor lad can't even make coffee) and a simple remake request from myself.
Just before we left, a staff member (I won't say who in case the manager is vindictive - suffice to say this person ought to be running the store) came over to me and said that that drink I was served twice was (a) not a flat white at all, (b) I was treated poorly and did not react badly at all and (c) apparently, this sort of thing is happening all the time. Quelle surprise.
My elderly mother used to spend Saturday afternoons in here. She hasn't bothered for months and goes to Coffee Lab round the corner instead - oh, the irony*. I now know why.
*If you didn't know, the owners of Coffee Lab were the previous owners...
Read moreReally good coffee. Great food and friendly service. Only complaint is lack of seating. Usually 4+ of us visit and it’s often difficult finding a free table. Understand it’s a small shop, but a lot of 4+ person tables hogged by 1 person with headphones in and working on a laptop, reading, chatting and even playing cards, often having finished their drinks, even with just a glass of free tap water on table. it is quite frustrating. Grandmother with mobility problems means we cannot get upstairs where more seating is, even then this area is often full as well. Seen parents with prams with the same problem. Multiple times we have had to turn around and go elsewhere because of lack of seating, we don’t visit as often as we would like purely for this reason. Have seen other coffee shops create a large table as a co-working space upstairs with plug points etc, perhaps this would be a solution to this problem. Also encouraging customers to leave large tables for larger parties and those with mobility issues and make use the upstairs space. Some people do offer to move to a smaller table but others are less considerate. We now go to a different coffee shop nearby that doesn’t seem to have the same problem, but if this problem were fixed we’d gladly visit a...
Read moreI really do not like to write bad reviews but hope it will help the business and potential customers. Asked for oat latte but I was unable to drink what I've been served as the proteins split and were floating in my coffee, resulting in very acidic flavour and horrible texture. When complained friendly staff made another one but it happen again. I didn't ask for refund but when I've approached one of the employees and explained the situation I've been told that is how it is with this milk... What???!!! If they know they will serve me a horrible coffee then why they still do so or why they won't just say the milk will split and maybe go for soy? Also it wouldn't happen with good quality barista milk but they use Rude Health brand which is more difficult to work with than e.g. Oatly. Have tried this place a few times, also their other place on Wellfield road and even when served with soy milk my coffee was never good and staff definitely needs to...
