Contacted the venue as requested following my initial review for them to resolve - over a month later and no reply still. I'm unsurprised given the dreadful service on the day we visited to be honest.
We'd previously visited the Guildford branch and had a wonderful meal, excellent service and found it very family friendly, therefore we'd been looking forward to our visit to the Brighton branch.
Unfortunately it didn't start well, we were escorted to a table in the back corner where remnants of a staff meal were still on the table, and were told the cleaner liked to sit at that table. This was despite this being before 12pm in a virtually empty restaurant. It felt fairly obvious they were trying to keep children as far away from other people as possible.
We were then quite clearly forgotten about as nobody took our order for a very long time. The food was on the whole ok, but largely dissapointing compared to our previous experience. The sourdough bread was more like heavily seeded rye bread, dense, incredibly dry and barely warmed, certainly not warm enough to disguise the dryness, I sent it back in the end. The pigs in blankets looked to only just be on the cusp of being properly cooked, they were pale, to the point we wondered if they were chicken sausages. The kids garlic bread was very dry, my daughter found it hard going and I suspect only ate it because by the time food arrived, she was very hungry. The service wasn't fantastic, nobody asked about allergies, which I think is fairly standard these days, were were left a long time before even a drinks order was taken and out starter's were flung at us by a member of staff who was either annoyed to be there or incredibly disinterested.
The ladies toilets weren't very clean or tidy and there was no soap available at all.
In fairness, they removed the cost of a starter and I think we were expected to be more appreciative that the service charge had been removed without us having to ask.
Given this was meant to be our main family meal out over the festive period, we left incredibly dissapointed, and without any sort of festive cheer unfortunately. We won't return as clearly we weren't welcome with children and the food and service didn't live up to the expectation set by the...
Read moreI share this story with a heavy heart, and a sincere hope that no one has to endure what my companions and I experienced at Coppa Club Brighton. Our plan was simple: an evening of good food, friendly banter, and relaxation. Instead, we found ourselves in an upsetting scenario filled with hostility, racism, and a sense of impending danger that no one should feel, especially not in a place intended for enjoyment and leisure. As soon as we stepped through the door, the lack of warmth was palpable. There was a clear hostility in the air that progressed from subtle disinterest to an unmistakable disdain. The staff’s words and actions reeked of racial bias, from their tone of voice and choice of words to the quality of service we received. Their comments about our heritage weren’t just distasteful—they were deeply hurtful and offensive. Such inhuman behavior has no place anywhere, let alone in an environment where people come to unwind. What was worse, the underlying animosity turned into an overt aggression, casting a shadow of unease and fear over our group. This was more than just poor service; it felt like we were under siege in a place where we expected hospitality. It’s hard to focus on the positives like the cosy ambiance or the decent food when your mind is clouded with anxiety and apprehension. I implore those reading this to think long and hard before deciding to spend their time and money at Coppa Club Brighton. It’s my belief that no establishment that allows such a degree of disrespect and contempt should be supported. I know I won't be setting foot there again. Please take heed from my experience and approach this place...
Read moreThere's a heavy weight in my heart as I pen down my experience at Coppa Club Brighton. It was meant to be a memorable evening filled with delicious food, laughter and camaraderie. Sadly, it ended up being an encounter with egregious racism and looming fear. As soon as we entered, we felt an unnerving coldness in the way the staff received us. What started as dismissive behavior rapidly escalated to overt hostility. The aura of racism was impossible to ignore—it was palpable in the words they used, the way they treated us, and their method of service. The comments thrown at us about our ethnicity were not just offensive, they were dehumanising. In no world should anyone be subjected to such behavior, least of all when trying to enjoy a meal. The verbal discrimination wasn't the only issue. The atmosphere turned aggressive and menacing, making us feel unsafe and threatened. This wasn't just poor customer service; it was an outright assault on our dignity. Regardless of the ambience or the quality of the food, the flagrant display of prejudice soured everything. It's difficult to appreciate any aspect of a place when you're fearing for your safety and dealing with hateful bigotry. In conclusion, my disappointment in Coppa Club Brighton is profound, and I urge potential patrons to think twice before supporting an establishment that condones such despicable behavior. I, for one, will not be returning to Coppa Club Brighton, and I sincerely hope others reflect upon whether they want to patronise an establishment so indifferent to human dignity and decency. Final Rating: ONE STAR, and that's only because there isn't an...
