Pros; Starters were great! Prawn tempura, bao buns (amazing!), katsu curry and rice for my kids. However, my main was res Thai curry and it looked green and the chicken was deep fried!! I’d never had a Thai curry with deep fried chicken and I just didn’t feel like eating it but the flavours were nice. Also my wine glass smelled like egg a little so lost points for cleanliness.
Cons; ALOT happened!! Il try cover it all so you know.
Where we were sat there were 4 tables including ours and the waiters managed to screw EACH table on that level on the restaurant. Our table (we got the best serves out of the 4 tables); after waiting 15 mins for our drinks after ordering (wine) we had to remind the waitress. When we finished our bottle later, we were told they couldn’t give us another bottle of the same wine as they didn’t have any more and we didn’t want to mix wines. When we asked if we could order our main course the waitress was extremely confused and KEPT asking ‘main course, what’s that?’ then my husband said “dinner?” And she still didn’t get it. So then I said “Thai curry?” To which a light bulb lit up!
Another table; placed drinks and starter order and nothing came to their table for half an hour ! Me and hubby felt so bad we looked to them and suggested they ask the waitress for their drinks as that’s what we had to do. They didn’t ask, so they waited a little longer. When their ‘wine’ came it turned out they didn’t order that wine but the table next to them stated to the waiter it was for them. The waiter then continued to pour the wine on the wrong table only to not turn around and give it to the right table BUT to take it back down! But finally this table for their drinks and starters after a while.
Another table had ordered GLUTEN FREE sushi (like a large 40 piece) and wine. They were told they didn’t have that wine (the one we were refused a second bottle of too) so they got another. So their sushi came to the table and they’re both eating it WHEN another large platter of sushi is bought to their table!!! This new platter is the gluten free one and the one the couple were eating was not!!! The women was gluten free and said it’s okay, I might be okay and the man was very upset and said it’s not okay for you!! The waitresses didn’t do much expect swap it over and leave. Poor woman!
And the last table had actually got there second (after we sat down) and got their starters 3rd and the wrong starters! Only to be sent back and we could hear telling off going on in the kitchen directly downstairs when finally their correct food came!!
So I was laughing the whole way through because it was like watching a comedy show!!! How could do much go wrong! And that was only on the level we were sat at! What about how many tables there were upstairs!?!
The best part of my evening was the salt and pepper bao’s and the waitress constantly saying “main course,...
Read moreSadly I have had to revise my view of Intoku, Windsor after a god awful experience. The restaurant was pretty much empty bar 4 other people but all of the tables were covered in used plates that needed to be cleared first... not a big issue. We ordered drinks and starters and the pain truly began. It took 10 minutes for the drinks and one starter. My beer was given in a bottle with no glass which is not normal service but OK, let's move on. We waited 40 minutes more for the sushi and that was after I had to ask what the hold up was and then to be told they had prioritised deliveries over in restaurant diners, which was comical and at 40 minutes I have to say awful service. The sushi arrived and in theme with the experience a piece fell off onto the table when served. The waiter simply shrugged and didn't care. We had the painful choice of completing dinner here or going to another restaurant but chose to foolishly see out the evening. Mains came quickly.... too quickly, as they were cold and tepid. The katsu sauce you could tell had been sitting for a while and the rice, probably for hours. Even a microwave would have performed a better job of reheating stale food. It's a shame as I have enjoyed Intoku, Windsor previously but this experience means I will not be returning anytime soon, if ever. I have kept 2 stars in the review for historic experience but they really need to up their game
Review from a year ago: First time trying Intoku and it was a great experience. The staff were attentive and the sushi was amazing. Everything was so fresh and...
Read moreWe were quite disappointed with our recent visit. While we appreciate the effort of the team, there are several areas that could be improved:
Shortly after being seated, we were repeatedly asked to place our order, which felt rather rushed. A little more patience would have made the experience more comfortable.
We initially ordered a Tokyo Ice Tea but then changed to a cola. Unfortunately, the Tokyo Ice Tea was still added to the bill and not cancelled. We should have double-checked before leaving, so part of this was our oversight, but we do feel the service staff could have handled it more carefully.
The children’s meal portion was surprisingly small – it might suit a very young child, but certainly not an 11-year-old, who was still hungry afterwards.
Given the small portion, the children’s meal also felt poor value for money. In hindsight, it would have been better to order a main dish to share between two children.
The sushi quality was quite average, closer to what you might find in a supermarket rather than in a restaurant setting.
The ramen was the most disappointing – the noodles and broth tasted more like instant noodles with MSG rather than an authentic Japanese soup base.
Overall, we left feeling that both the food quality and value did not meet expectations. We hope the restaurant can take this as constructive feedback and make improvements, as the concept has potential but the current execution...
