Palmito — Restaurant in Great Britain

We absolutely loved our first taste of the wonderfully-flavoured delights at Palmito, and can't wait to sample the rest of their menu. Having Chef Kanthi stop by to serve some of the dishes and explain them was a lovely touch, and the service, on what was an extremely busy Saturday night, was excellent. The stand out dishes for us were the bream ceviche, the charred broccoli with a ridiculously good roasted red pepper and almond chutney, the beautifully spiced mackerel and also the very homely beef tacos, with a stunning beef broth. The rainbow chard with the octopus was very tasty too, but the octopus could have been cooked slightly less and maybe with smaller slices. The labneh with the mackerel was lovely, but perhaps would have better suited a lamb dish rather than fish, with which it seemed a bit incongruous. Nonetheless, the absolute icing on the cake for me was the cardamom and saffron Panna cotta, which was only very lightly sweetened, light, and utterly delicious with the tart, stewed plums -- the cardamom and saffron was SUCH a taste of home for me! What a great new restaurant! I can’t wait to come back already 😋 My partner and I came here for a celebratory dinner on a friend’s recommendation - we ordered 6 plates between us and were absolutely full to the brim!! I think 5 dishes to share between 2 would be sufficient, maybe less if you’re planning on enjoying snacks, cocktails and/or dessert. The service is fast and friendly - service charge isn’t included in the bill, but worth adding as 100% goes to the lovely staff. The presentation of the food is plain and simple, but the flavours speak for themselves. I thoroughly enjoyed the grilled nectarines dish and the sweetcorn, and the pork birria taco was divine. The food arrives quickly and as soon as it’s ready - don’t expect all dishes at once! Palmito food is Delicious! Presenting the finest well sourced ingredients with careful attention to detail. This restaurant brings the buzz of local products combined with South American flavours. Although small and with tables very close together, this tiny restaurant still manages to create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy their tapas style dishes. Every dish is carefully crafted and perfectly executed and comes out when ready. It's laid back and friendly approach leaves diners wondering what's going to be delivered next! I highly recommend these types of neighbourhood restaurants, so much better than the chain restaurants that are dominating our high streets. It was also very reasonable in price. We spent about £150 for two including 10 x plates to share and a bottle of wine. You could easily spend a lot less by just ordering 6x dishes as recommended, but we are greedy and love to...
