All the guests who leave negative reviews are either stating facts or expressing their demands. However, this resterant's tactic is uniformly to label customers as competitors to avoid taking responsibility. It seems to be performing a personal talkshow, acting very seriously. Another approach they use is hilariously like delivering a stand-up comedy routine without an audience, clearly expressing her dissatisfaction with children, regular customers, or new customers, while smugly believing she has many loyal patrons.
In reality, this restaurant indeed leans towards being a tourist trap, as most visitors to Windermere are tourists, and they feel they can treat them however they like. Even though they consider us "regular customers," we, like other patrons, are not coming here for your charm dear; we are just looking for a familiar place to eat. Every restaurant has many regular customers, but it's uncommon to see so many negative reviews and each comment sarcastically mocking the customers. I understand that your life must be very difficult. Tell us, and we will all help you. If no one loves you, just ask for some help instead of being rude please.
My friends and I often travel to the Lake District, and sometimes, when we're too tired to look for a new restaurant, we choose this one. Throughout our meals, we've witnessed the waitress's rudeness. Each time we come, we enjoy watching her "performance" to see how she treats others. Despite our ongoing discussions, we still can't figure out the reason behind her bitterness—whether it's due to past experiences or just her personality. Every time we leave, we breathe a sigh of relief. Although it's hard to see what she has to be so arrogant about, occasionally, it's amusing as a part of our mealtime entertainment.
However, this restaurant seems to be getting worse, including the ridiculous signs, while also asking for positive reviews on Facebook at the entrance. Well, you should know that you don't deserve good reviews because you haven't even learned the basics of respect and normal conversation. I believe that your nature may not be inherently this way, but rather that you lack the ability to become civilized and professional, for which I feel deeply pity.
The ingredients have a fishy smell, so they used heavy seasoning, though the flavor is acceptable. However, the waitresses' attitudes have noticeably deteriorated. They constantly give impatient looks and exhibit poor manners, including rolling their eyes and making sour faces. The restaurant's responses to all customer reviews on Google are equally shocking—every single one is so sarcastic and bitter.
I suggest reading more books when you have the time. Life shouldn't just teach you being mean, but also how to live and treat others in a civilized manner. Dear, I hope you can learn the ways of a civilized person.
I'm truly shocked by the changes in your restaurant; the quality has significantly declined, which is disappointing. The sign at the entrance is also very conspicuous, and you seem quite unfriendly towards children, which is unacceptable. The responses to customers on Google are clearly discriminatory and disrespectful, which is deeply...
Read moreDo not waste your time and money going to this restaurant! The one that served us was the owner and she was extremely rude from the beginning until the end! My friends and I work in London in hospitality as well and We WELL know how a guest should be approached and treated. When We firstly tried to have a friendly conversation with the owner, (as she was serving us), just asking if there was any Italian chefs on service, her answer was completely unexpected. She just said "I am the owner and We know what we are doing". I am still very shocked as it was just a simple question to start a dialogue between guests and waitress (or whoever she was!). After that, she took our order and when We asked her if Ravioli pasta was with double cream due to a severe dairy intollerance, She was not even sure and it was not even written in the menu! My friend had to change dish and after 15minutes that we were waiting to eat, she came back again saying that even that dish contained dairy and if it was ok to cook it just with butter. From a waiter, (and the owner even more), I strongly expect to know properly the menu and to inform and help the guests in case of allergies or dietary restrictions as it is not a thing to take for granted! On top of this, when all the rest of pastas arrived, one of them was very overcooked and We kindly asked her to make another one trying to give a constructive feedback and her reaction was even more shocking as she started to be clearly upset not even looking at us and answering back with a very bad attitude, instead of apologise or at least saying that every feedback is accepted (as I usually answer to my guests while working!). I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE and I really hope nobody would ever have the same treatment!! Lastly, I would suggest to re-write the menu as some MAIN ingredients are missing and some adjectives like "beautiful" or "gorgeous" are used wrongly as are not suitable for dishes or food. (Just to be picky as you "know what you are doing").
Really, DO NOT WASTE YOUR ENERGY TO GO TO THIS RESTAURANT AS YOU WILL END UP GETTING UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED. IT DOES NOT WORTH A PENNY!
Ps. You can see even from the answer of the restaurant to this review the poor and too formal language used. Definitely not the right one for a complaint. Really ashamed from someone working in hospitality industry. Nothing...
Read morePSA NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!! If you have kids find some place else to eat. Honestly, looking at the food online it looked incredible!! We had such an awful first experience with this place that I want to warn other traveling families. Some of the WORST customer service I’ve seen. We were on holiday with our family and got to the restaurant as soon as they opened for an early dinner. It was my 31st birthday and was hoping for a lovely birthday dinner. As soon as we got there the hostess told us about 5 different times that we couldn’t have the stroller. We kept telling them “ok that’s fine we’ll leave it in the car or leave it outside” and they kept insisting “no prams allowed!”. It seemed like there was a language barrier or they didn’t understand what we were saying but they were very rude about it. I was completely aware going in that there wasn’t a child’s menu. We don’t usually feed our kids from the child’s menu so that didn’t phase me. After the whole debacle with the stroller the hostess went and spoke to the manager who came out and told us again “no prams allowed”. Then we were so confused we just asked if kids were allowed? To which they told us they had no kids menus and basically told us reluctantly that our kids could stay if we were ok with no kids menu. We decided not to based on how awkward they were and how clear it was that we were NOT welcome. They were so visibly disgusted and uncomfortable by our family why would we spend money at an establishment like that? I understand not wanting kids at your restaurant or trying to maintain a certain atmosphere but you need to advertise that on your facebook. Not welcoming atmosphere and the customer is always wrong- they will come up with 100 excuses why the customer is wrong.
Editing after owners response to say: it’s clear that the customer is never right at this institution and they treat a lot of people like this. The English hospitality we’ve experienced at every other place was absent here. We had no problem following the no pram rule and I was just so confused why we were treated so rudely. Not surprising though seeing how people have had similar experiences as ours and are responded to so unapologetically with so many excuses why the customer is wrong. Maybe they’re confusing us with another family they treated badly because we only...
