Slept in my coat... arrrived on a cold monday in february, looking forward to a little break with my family told gentleman on reception we had brought our dog... this was the first disaster as scooby wasnt booked in was sorted out but did feel like i had just done something terrible so they managed to sort us a room for us and the dog and if honest i actually think it was just a large kennel with beds in the room was freezing i mean cold, cold radiator was switched off so turned it up and thought all will be good it wasnt spoke to gentleman on reception and he asked me if the window was open LOL was offered an infamous oil filled radiator and it arrived too promptly for my liking it managed to warm the desk that was about it thought i'd have a shower...couldnt wash myself as the handrail got in the way of the 500psi jet that came out, if it had been like any other shower in the history of showers, it may have worked but the spread on the water was about 2" at best put my towel on the towel rail to warm the bathroom up and dry the towel nope that didnt work either went out for tea and came back to our room was just waiting for the warden to say lights out then i remembered i was away for a relaxing break and not in a prison cell the matress was old and uncomfortable and a dirty tear on the sheet meant i got that bed and my wife took mine by now was cold to the bone and just went to sleep in my rab jacket that i work outdoors in woke up and we decided to miss breakfast as we just wanted to go home as soon as possible and the thought of sitting next to the toilets in the dog owner section didnt fill us with glee...had we been asked we could have put scooby in the car while we ate in the restaurant handed keys in and didnt even get asked if we had had a nice stay which may have been for the best the mood i was in got back home, tired and fed up really spoilt our hard earned mini break ps i didnt leave the telly on on purpose, the stoopid thing wouldnt switch off thanks for spoiling our break away

I travelled to Windemere to have a sailing experience and needed a nice hotel for the night before heading home. The hotel is in need of some renovations but it was more than enough for what we needed. We weren't aware there is a £6 per night parking charge as you'd typically expect that to be covered by your stay. Not the end of the world though. The room was the main let down for our stay. Looking past the outdated taps and the towel rack heater not working, our main issue was their need to hoover the lobby and surrounding areas between half 12 and 1am. We were awoken to very loud banging and at first thought it was coming from the rooms above. After 10 minutes of it, I decided to head into the hallway and found it was coming from the stairs/lobby. We were unfortunate to be in the room directly above (106) and as the building is quite old, all the sounds just echo'd straight up to us as if it was just outside the room. I've attached a video from the stairway to hear the banging coming from below. It wasn't just hoovering (which we could have probably slept through), it was constant banging the hoover head on the floor or walls? The breakfast was a fairly standard buffet with everything you'd expect. No complaints here. Check out is 10am which we knew prior to coming. It would be nice if this was 11am with them offering breakfast booking times as late as half 9. Feels like quite a rushed morning when you're up past 1am. As for the breakfast service, I couldn't fault it. The staff were very attentive and made sure we were sorted with hot drinks etc. Overall, the stay was alright and did the job. We would probably look to spend a little more money on an alternative in the area if we were to visit again.

“Like walking into Fawlty Towers…” The Windermere Hotel really does feel like walking into Fawlty Towers — quite dated but cosy in its own way. Our room was very small and compact, definitely in need of an upgrade considering what we paid. It was warm (a little too warm at night), but we did have plenty of hot water and a good shower. We stayed with our dachshund and were given a room that had clearly been used by other dogs — Stan could definitely smell them! We thought the dog charge was £20 per stay, but it turned out to be £20 per night, which felt steep, especially since there were no extras for dogs (no treats, bowls, or blankets like you get elsewhere) We booked 3 nights bed and breakfast but ended up leaving after 2 because we both slept terribly — the mattress was very uncomfortable, and we could hear constant noise from the rooms above. It left me with a sore back. Although we understand still having to pay for the room, we also had to pay the extra night for the dog, which didn’t feel very fair. We were told the dog charge covers a “deep clean,” but again, there’s nothing extra provided for pets. Breakfast was served in a separate room from the main restaurant, as the restaurant isn’t dog friendly. On a positive note, the Orrest Bar was lovely — we enjoyed a nice meal there with Stan and had fun playing dominoes. Overall, it was an expensive stay for what we got. We told reception why we were checking out early, but the response was simply, “Nothing we can do, sorry.” Unfortunately, not a hotel I’d return to.

I am a paid Google reviewer and I travel around the UK to find good hotels and restaurants and give them honest reviews. I have experience in the restaurant and hotel industry so I know what I am looking out for. And here are my findings. DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL For the people that don't know what my job is: i am a paid reviewer and I get paid to travel and stay in hotels to give honest reviews for Google. I know hotels and restaurants as I have worked in many before. And I have family that own there own business around the uk. I have been and reviewed over 100 hotels and I have gave some bad reviews and I can say with all honesty this is the worse one of them all and here is why.The room sizes are nice size and the receptionist Jess who is recently training to be a receptionist has had to do the cleaning job as the cleaners left our room in a mess. This left me and my fiancé not happy at all as Jess is really good at her job. Personally she should run the whole hotel. She is the most friendliest staff member I have ever met. The customer service for the main chain hotel are really slow I had to wait 15 mins to even get through to anyone. They were slow and they took ages to reply to us after a call back. The cleaners are not happy at all and will give you the look of death. And will not clean very well at all as they had to be recalled to our room and even on the 2nd attempt they still didn't clean very well. (SO JESS SAVED THE DAY) and cleaned for us. If you ever visit here and you want GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE ASK FOR JESS. Jess also has a lot of experience with the hotel as she has done pretty much all of the jobs here. Over all personally I wouldn't come here ever again as I hated it. And Jess should be in a high class hotel as she is brilliant with customers and she deserves to be paid much more. During our stay we had to have the maintenance called out as the shower kept going hot and cold and burnt me. And again Jess was really fast on getting them to sort the issues out. It comes out fast and red hot and the pressure would go down and it would be freezing cold. If you plan to stay in one of there premier rooms you may find the 4 post bed hard to get onto as there is a large wooden cap before the mattress. The mattress is comfortable. The tea tray will to have everything that is advised as we has items like biscuits and tea bags missing. In our premier room we had a broken window and the window are sash corded this means the don't always stay open. Toilet roll holder is ready to fall off the wall. Toilet brush needs replacing. The staff here I find to be quite rude and will not talk much as love to be on there phones. All the cleaners are rude and very unhelpful and will ignore you. Ever since the staff found out that I am a paid Google reviewer I have been treated differently THIS WILL NOT CHANGE ANY OF MY FINDINGS this goes against them as I am a deep believer for everyone to be treated the same as we are all paying customers. The tassimo machine has only coffee we did ask for teas and hot chocolate which we were told they only have coffee. The building has a lot of damp and mould growing and carpets need changing as full of stains. I also found there to be a lot of floorboards that squeak I understand the building is only BUT I used to be a builder and I do know for a fact you can replace them. The staff are not very good at handling customers at all they are very slow at booking in at reception. It took me 15 minutes just to get my keys. The chain of hotels ceo will be getting a copy of all of my findings and it is up to them if they will take any use of it many of them do. When we had someone to come over for a quick meet the night time staff decided to listed in the hallway as I had to tell him to leave us alone so we can have a meeting in private. Then he decided to lay the tables in the restaurant across the hall so he...

Well, where do we start with this one. ||Let's do the positives, which brought it up to 2 stars.||The Orrest bar was nice for a drink and a bit of basic pub grub. Breakfast was again basic but pretty decent, and the staff that we interacted with were all friendly and helpful. Here endeth the positives! ||We arrived on Sat, 8th March, and were allocated Room 19. We went to drop off our bags and get out in the sunshine but immediately noticed the room was tired and very dated.||We got back to our room around 21:00, and that's when it started going downhill fast.||We immediately noticed that the ceiling and walls were covered in cobwebs. The walls had spillages, hand prints, paw prints, and all manner of muck. The skirting, switches, and ledges had months (yes months) worth of built-up dust and grime. The furnishings were terrible, broken lampshades, wardrobe doors loose, and chunks missing out of everything. ||The bathroom had black mould from one end of the ceiling to the other and rust around almost every metal fixture.||All in all, it was horrific. It's the only way I can describe it. As we were knackered, we just went to bed and decided to speak to the manager in the morning.||After breakfast, I asked to speak to the duty manager and invited him to accompany me to the room. Once there, I showed him all the issues mentioned previously. He was attentive and apologised, offering the response that "Housekeepung must have missed some areas," which given the state of the room was not great.||He offered to have them return and clean the room, which to me was not an option. In my opinion the room was not fit to be used, let alone charge people to stay there!||After some more "discussion," we were offered the option of a move to another room. This would involve checking out and checking back in later that day. This was to allow them to get THIS room ready for the next guests. A task only possible by renovation !!||As agreed, we checked back in after 15:00, and we're allocated room 125. This room was far better in terms of hygiene and had clearly had a lick of paint recently. However still black mould in the bathroom !||I cannot stress how unclean room 19 was and given the appearance of this hotel from the outside, how stark a contrast the inside is.||The whole place is tired, dated grubby, and in dire need of investment and maintenance.||I would not recommend it, nor will I ever return to the venue. It has so much potential but seems to live off the perception from it's outward...

Slept in my coat...

arrrived on a cold monday in february, looking forward to a little break with my family

told gentleman on reception we had brought our dog... this was the first disaster as scooby wasnt booked in

was sorted out but did feel like i had just done something terrible

so they managed to sort us a room for us and the dog and if honest i actually think it was just a large kennel with beds in

the room was freezing i mean cold, cold

radiator was switched off

so turned it up and thought all will be good

it wasnt

spoke to gentleman on reception and he asked me if the window was open LOL

was offered an infamous oil filled radiator and it arrived too promptly for my liking

it managed to warm the desk that was about it

thought i'd have a shower...couldnt wash myself as the handrail got in the way of the 500psi jet that came out, if it had been like any other shower in the history of showers, it may have worked but the spread on the water was about 2" at best

put my towel on the towel rail to warm the bathroom up and dry the towel

nope that didnt work either

went out for tea and came back to our room

was just waiting for the warden to say lights out then i remembered i was away for a relaxing break and not in a prison cell

the matress was old and uncomfortable and a dirty tear on the sheet meant i got that bed and my wife took mine

by now was cold to the bone and just went to sleep in my rab jacket that i work outdoors in

woke up and we decided to miss breakfast as we just wanted to go home as soon as possible and the thought of sitting next to the toilets in the dog owner section didnt fill us with glee...had we been asked we could have put scooby in the car while we ate in the restaurant

handed keys in and didnt even get asked if we had had a nice stay which may have been for the best the mood i was in

got back home, tired and fed up

really spoilt our hard earned mini break

ps i didnt leave the telly on on purpose, the stoopid thing wouldnt switch off

thanks for spoiling...
