I found myself in Windemere, peak season and looking for a table for one. So many restaurants with "fully booked" signs up making my choice limited. The Tapios opened at 5pm and had several bookings waiting, but managed to get me in the early sitting. Well the stress melted away once I was seated. A wonderful ambiance, with subtle table and environment lighting, good decor and greenery making it feel as Mediterranean as you could in the soggy lake District. A good selection of tapas was on offer so a "one of each" approach seemed appropriate. Bit of meat, bit of fish, bit of veg. Squid, chicken, and mushrooms, which seemed a good combination. The service was great, a little small talk even though the restaurant was filling up, drinks arrived swiftly, and the tapas, shortly after. The squid was well cooked, not rubbery and with a light batter. The chicken was spicy, but not overly so and the small bed of salad had a high quality balsamic vinegar applied. The mushrooms had a fantastically Herby hot salsa with stringy cheese to complement. The bill was bought when asked and a great meal experience was had. I couldn't fault it so left a 25% tip. Because it was worth it. Great food, Great service, Great experience.

After searching through Google reviews for something a little different I came across this restaurant. We were luckily able to get a table as walk-ins and were immediately greeted with a great atmosphere. The music and the venue combined with the general chit chat and family-friendly vibe. We ordered a jug of Sangria between two (which amounted to about 3 glasses each) and also ordered 6 different items off the menu to share, in typical fashion for a tapas restaurant. The staff did bring some of lighter options first such a bread and hummus. Our other orders included spicy chicken wings, fried halloumi, fired potatoes, chorizo and prawns and beef with mushrooms. All the food was flavourful and cooked very well. We found the staff attentive and friendly and thoroughly enjoyed our time during our meal. I highly recommend booking if you can- be aware that calling between 16:00-17:00 is best to speak to a staff member.

Excellent New Years Eve night. What can I say ? We were a party of 7 on the 3rd sitting of the night. The food was amazing. We tried a dozen or more of the fantastic dishes on the menu, and everyone was delicious. We were recommended a beautiful Rioja from the bar manager, which was one of the best I've tried in a long time. The service was exceptional, from the staff and owners of this great little restaurant in Windermere. And after we all wished the New Year in, the owners put on some music to which we all got up and had a great dance to finish the night off. So a big Thank you to Andrew and the staff of Tapios for making such a memorable night. Paul and family. ( Blackpool )

I personally would not visit here again. The little things make a big difference. We was asked to seat at the high stools despite the table they then moved us to was free and ready. Taking off my coat whilst juggling my brolly and bag to sit somewhere for 2 minutes to then be moved to a table that was already prepared is unorganised. Our candle at the table was not lit and took a good 10 minutes or more when asking despite waitresses being free (we was sat in a dark corner and all other candles on the table were lit….this makes a difference). Do not recommend the gin and tonic or the mojito, they was incredibly flat despite being told it was straight out the bottle. The food was average. I will say there was one particular guy who was very friendly making the experience a lot better and did not charge for the drinks we had after. The main reason for not visiting again is for me service is key, despite my views towards the staff changing as the evening went on it needs to be consistent. If a table is free please seat your guests accordingly instead of watching them struggle only to make them move once seated. Everyone’s experience...

Muchas Gracias Ok so I rock up in training kit after running up hills and doing lengths of their pond... (Windermere) Looking and smelly like I was a hobo. I asked the hermosa waitress if I could a have very lenta table. I ordered wine bread olives and calamari It arrived and I began to enjoy. When asked by the table service if all was ok I replied si To be honest... I was happy to pay as I go because even though I was dress like Usain bolt pre competition I was told it was no problem I proceeded to eat enough tapas for two, And enjoy a lovely bottle of white. I never felt I was an inconvenience or taking up too much space as a lone diner. The food was perfect the chicken as soft and succulent the flavour was perfecto and I tried a lot of food that was all great... The service was impeccable and the bill was very reasonable Thank you to all. Hasta luego. Ps Tu encantadora camarera debe aprender un poco de español para la próxima...
