Absolutely shocking attitude and service , if the owner of this place is reading these please take note of what happened today - My friend mentioned he heard good things about Homeground and we decided to drop in on route to a walk in the lakes. After a short wait outside in the rain , we was greeted at the door by a friendly girl and asked if we are eating in or out . We said we would be having a take out as in a rush and she said no problem please go straight through , after another short wait a young chap nervously said we cannot take out our bacon sandwich , how ever we can take our coffee and cakes , we thought this strange and asked can we just then maybe eat the sandwich on the near by bench at the window - no this won’t work he said , I then proceeded to say - and in a calm manor - maybe the lady at the door should mention this to people who are waiting outside in the rain as they enter. I’m still not sure why this policy , however I don’t really want get into this point ( it’s your business that will lose revenue ) the main reason we are leaving a review is due to the next vile staff member that was half listening to what was being discussed , and jumped straight in and said ā€œwhat do you want us to do we aren’t mind readers ā€œ we absolutely could not believe it . And then had the cheek to accuse me of being aggressive !!! Yes that old chestnut . Provoke and then pull the aggressive card. I suggest she reads up the meaning of aggressive. Wow , one of the other customers we saw later also thought it was disgusting and urged us to contact the owners . This person should be removed from the shop immediately . You may have a great reputation and people will come from far and wide but staff like her will bring you down rapidly . The friend I was with has a hotel in Windermere and knows about staff etc . He literally couldn’t believe it . They also went on to say that the staff member was new , ok that’s fine but it’s how she dealt with the issue . A simple , sorry guys , it’s company policy for xxx reasons and I’ll be sure to let the front staff know to avoid this happening , even then we would of most likely just got the coffees and cakes . I’m really really angry about this and happy to discuss anytime with you , that was absolutely bang out of order today and no need . And maybe soon she will find out what aggression is if she speaks to the wrong person like that . Horrible...

We visited this place early this morning after reading good reviews and decided to queue before opening to have breakfast as a family (two adults and two children). As soon as the doors opened, we were among the first to come in and sat at a table. We had already looked at the menu online and were ready to order — the kids were hungry and we wanted to keep things quick and simple. When I asked a member of staff if we could place our order, I was told they were too busy, even though several staff were standing around the bar and not actively serving. We waited another 10 minutes before our order was finally taken — it wasn’t complicated: a toastie, avocado toast, two cakes, two coffees, and a side of hash browns. We then waited... and waited. While we could see the kitchen was working fast (other tables who ordered after us were already being served), our food didn’t arrive for over 50 minutes. I checked in with a staff member who assured me it was on the way, but it still took another 15 minutes to reach us. By the time the food arrived, we were starving, rushed, and frustrated — not exactly the experience we were hoping for during our holiday. The food itself was good, no complaints there, but we were in such a hurry to catch our boat that we barely had time to enjoy it. It’s hard not to feel disappointed. From the start, something felt a bit off — we didn’t feel particularly welcome, and sadly, it did feel as though we were treated differently. We came to the Lake District to relax and enjoy time as a family, but this experience left a sour note. I wouldn’t return, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others looking for friendly, attentive service — especially if you’re in any...

Wow! What a gorgeous cafe! I had the most sensational avocado toast I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating consisting of a creamy mound of chunky smashed avocado with feta, sprinkled with savoury granola (UMM YUM) served with some leaves on the side drizzled with a wonderfully fresh preserved lemon dressing complimenting the flavour beautifully. I added some additional streaky bacon and I wish I’d also grabbed some additional hash browns too because they looked insaane! Can also recommend the ā€˜Homeground Sarnie’ comprising of a sourdough ciabatta packed with smoked bacon, smashed avocado, large hash browns, (these were top tier!!) the sweetest red onion marmalade and topped with a fried egg.

This was a post-hike feeed and boyyyy was it needed! We were seated quickly despite it being busy and for good reason! Such a lovely spot with such friendly stafff and gorgeous food! My only regret is not picking up any sweeet treats from the counter..I may have to go back before I leave...
