Cafe Italia, A Beautiful Place With Mixed Feelings I recently visited Cafe Italia Lakes with three friends, drawn in by its stunning appearance. Located on a scenic corner, the café instantly caught our attention with its beautiful lights and warm, welcoming ambience. Even though we had already had dinner elsewhere, we were tempted to try something from this aesthetically pleasing place. 🍕 Food: 5/5 – Truly Exceptional We ordered a Chicken Deluxe Pizza, and it did not disappoint. The pizza was absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and tasted authentically Italian. It was one of those dishes you remember for a long time. If I were rating just the food, it would get a solid 5 out of 5. Highly recommend it to any pizza lover! 👎 Service: 1/5 – Disheartening Experience Unfortunately, our overall experience was negatively impacted by the staff member who took our order. From the moment we interacted with him, his attitude was off-putting and unpleasant. He appeared unfriendly, unwelcoming, and borderline rude. To be honest, I couldn’t help but feel that perhaps our appearance or background (being Asian) influenced the way we were treated. We were a group of four, ordering just one pizza – yes – but it’s not for anyone to judge how much we want to eat. We had already had dinner, and were simply there to enjoy a small bite and the lovely setting. His demeanor felt judgmental and disrespectful, making us uncomfortable throughout our short visit.

Delicious and reasonably priced food and friendly and quick service. I was suffering from quite a bad hangover and this heart food really perked me up. I'd highly recommend the Zurich soup to start, it's a traditional Polish soup and it was so delicious. It has pieces of susage and egg, but the soup was nice and light and full of flavour. For mains we had the Pollo Pappardelle and the King Prawn Linguine. The Pollo Pappardelle was rich and creamy, it was very yummy. The King Prawn Linguine on the other hand was very light you could really taste the olive oil and we were pleased the prawns were already deshelled and still full of flavour. I also ordered the peach ice tea which I found very refreshing. The reason I haven't given it a five star was because we had to wait for roughly 20 minutes outside for a table, they don't take bookings which I think is quite good sometimes but they had a couple of really beautiful, picturesque seating areas you can see from the outside which would be nice to book. Oh one more thing, if you are looking through the menu through the photos uploaded to Google like we did, they're a tad out of date. There were a couple of dishes no longer available and the prices are about £2 more on each dish.

We were greeted at the door by a man who opened the door for us and quickly closed it for us so that no one else could sneak in. I felt like I was at the entrance of a disco. Not very elegant but probably normal for them. Ordering drinks was chaotic. The waiter had no idea about the drinks. We asked for a red martini and he looked surprised that they had one and then indicated that they didn't. On the drink card it said cocktail but we only wanted the martini and he said he only had cocktails. We then asked if it was a pre-made cocktail or why it was not possible. He said he would ask and the answer was of course yes. Ticked. I wanted a gin and tonic but I don't like the big cocktail glass so I asked if possible to give it in a wikhys glass. Reply again to ask if they had such a glass. Clearly if it says whisky on the drinks tab then it is a glass. They did. Problem solved. The smoothie is perfect. We ordered pizza and pasta. The pizza was average with not too much flavour. The pasta is acceptable but not perfect if not over cooked it could be flawless. Dessert was a nutella waffle with no flaws. Overall not a bad place but some of the staff could do with some training. Thank you very much

Thought this place must be good as it was busy, with a queue. It's strange, cos the male staff of about 1 or 2 at the door, at first looked like bouncers! I ordered pizza and my partner, meatballs with tagliatelle. First of all, our waitress seemed elsewhere and not friendly at all and what made it worse, we noticed she didn't seem to be like this with others, so were we singled out; mmm... It was a bit like being treated as if we were invisible and second rate, i'm sorry to have to say. Oh and lo and behold as I just scroll through your other lowest reviews and just like we suspected, our waitress was possibly racist!! Look at the review here from 10 mths ago and they too indicate about their colour! This makes me angry, as it just sums up our whole experience - in addition to the poor quality food! Sort this waitress out at least, if you have a moral compass!!

My pizza seemed to have so much cheese on it, it was yukky! Something was not balancing right with it! The Pizza Express I buy from the supermarket was more tasty than this, plus it was burnt at the edges.

There is nothing worse than overcooked tagliatelle as it is so thin anyway. They gave but 3 meatballs and the tomato sauce served with it was watery! My partner said it was like having a microwave meal!!

We didn't bother saying anything when asked if everything was ok, as we thought we would share it here instead!

As I said, for some reason we seemed to be have been 'targeted' it seemed, as another table was saying, 'compliments to the chef'!

A really poor experience and that was our first meal having just arrived at Windermere.

How you seem to get overall good reviews I don't get, although you just have to click on 'lowest' and you begin to read otherwise! Like another pair, who had hardly any chicken in their meal!

To have paid high prices for such poor food is disgusting, plus to put up with a stand offish waitress!...

I recently had an unfortunate experience at Cafe Italia, which left me deeply disappointed and frustrated with their customer service. Although I cannot provide a review of the restaurant itself, as my husband and I were denied entry, I feel compelled to share my thoughts on the treatment we have received.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by an individual at the front door who promptly closed it ! He asked if we wanted to have dinner. Being fond of desserts, particularly tiramisu, my husband and I thought it would be a pleasant idea to indulge in some sweet treats alongside our coffee.

To our surprise, the gentleman at the door outright refused to let us enter, explaining that the restaurant was exclusively reserved for dinner service. It struck us as peculiar, considering there were numerous vacant tables visible inside. The restaurant did not appear to be busy at all, which made their refusal all the more perplexing and disappointing. The fact that we were denied entry solely based on our desire for tiramisu left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Regrettably, I cannot provide insights into the quality of the food as I was denied the opportunity to experience them firsthand. However, based on the discriminatory treatment we encountered, I find it difficult to recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a welcoming and accommodating dining experience.

I hope that Cafe Italia takes this feedback constructively and reevaluates their policies to provide a more inclusive and...
