I would like to write this review with complete honesty and explain exactly what happened to me and my family after buying a takeaway meal last week. We ordered 4 half chicken and what they called mixed miza. Firstly , I was really shoked with the high priced meal, we had been charged £60 and I did raise my concerns with the lady who owns the restaurant, she did explain that she had many employees and that cost her money and with absolute rudeness she said the prices will go up more as she didn't like that i raised that concern with her. Anyway, after waiting for more than half an hour, I took my order home. When me and my family started to serve the meal, we noticed that the £10 mixed miza was not in the order although we have paid for it. I immediately contacted the restaurant , and a lady by the Ola, I explained to her that part of our order was missing, and that i will attend next few days to have our money back, she agreed. We started eating the meal and we noticed that there was a bad taste of the rice and we decided to eat the chicken only and we threw everything else in the bin. Couple of hours after that me and especially my other family members experienced abdominal cramp and my son started to have diarrhoea and abdominal cramps. Obviously, these symptoms related to the meal we ate, especially the rice which looked and tasted very bad and we think it was a leftover or contaminated and not clean. Thankfully, our symptoms especially my son's did improve. After few days attended the restaurant and I spoke with a person on the main reception desk. I explained to him what had happened and he replied and without showing any sympathy, what you want us to do. I replied that I need a refund for the missing order and also that I hope that this could be investigated as a manager to prevent this from happening to other people. He didn't like what I said, he started to say he was very stressed . I told him that at this point I am happy to leave it here and I am not going to write any feedback about our horrible experience. Very aggressively and rudely he replied and said to me 'go and write your review and do what you like', as he's not concerned and dies not care from the bad review I am going to share with other customers . Then he came around and he accompanied me to the front door wanting me to leave the premises. I would advise anyone who is going to take a meal as takeaway from this restaurant to be very careful and to be safe and I really don't like any family to go through the same what my family been through. There are some other much nicer, cleaner and cheaper restaurants in Cardiff that you can...
Read moreGreat food, but a really horrible dine-in experience. I've ordered from Saray multiple times using delivery apps and the food always tastes delicious. Decided to try eating in and the experience was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had! Booked a table of 2 for 7pm in advance to make sure we would get a table. When we arrived at 6:55pm we were behind 2 walk-in customers who had no booking. The waiter proceeded to give them the last available 2 person table even tho we had booked a table and were on time for the booking...
We were then seated on an emergency back up table they pulled out of a room next to the toilets, and put in a space not suitable for an additional table, between 2 large tables of 8-10 guests... With lots of screaming children. Staff didn't seem to care at all and weren't helpful (maybe because they were very busy and just a bit stretched?) The kick in the teeth was when another table of 2 walked in after us and were seated in a booth to themselves.
So the food is delicious, but really not worth the awful eating-in experience if you're looking for a restaurant for a small table. It's probably a great place for a large group/family with young children though!
They also missed items from our order but both myself and my partner were so desperate to get out of there that we didn't bother asking about it.
2/5 as the food was great, but due to the horrible atmosphere we just didn't...
Read moreNot bad but not great. Excellent lentil soup starter and finger food/aperitif were good but downhill after that. I had sea bass for main. Its grilled but it had a distinct smell. Like it may have been sitting out too long 😳. Most of the menu was not available. Which was a shame so I ended up ordering what was available. That's not the experience you want. No fresh juice at all. No smoothies. A very strained menu for food. I was told its being updated. That's fine but that shouldn't mean a paying customer has less choice. A menu can still be served if a new one is being prepared. Nice decor and staff attentive but restaurants fall and survive on their food. If you have no food then rating will be affected. Most Turkish restaurants provide solid food but Saray has some catching up to do. I've had sea bass from other places up and down the country but this was below what I've come to expect. My friend had mousakka and wasn't impressed. I can't comment on other food they didn't have but if they did it might have turned out a better review. It could have easily been a 2 page menu. Not 6 pages. In a prime spot for busy restaurants...they need to set the benchmark. Want them to do well but I also want to share my experience. Summary, meh. If it improves I'll improve my rating. FYI parking in this area on a Saturday is a nightmare. Nothing to with restaurant...
