I was excited to try some of the food from here having heard of the Seafood Bothy and really enjoying fresh seafood.
I was extremely disappointed with lunch today: five prawns for £15 is expensive, but I can deal with that to support a small local business. But five undercooked prawns was unforgivable. On removing the tail, discovering the raw, translucent, jelly-like flesh was unpleasant. The garlic butter was unnoticeable, with little or no garlic flavour. the crab wrap, ihave to say on first impression, was tasty. But there were MANY fragments of shell in the crab meat. To the point where it wasn't enjoyable. the salad garnish was made with chick peas, among other salad veg. I ate a chick pea and it tasted a bit musty or fermented, like it had been too long out of its tin. I didn't eat anymore.
I should have complained there and then and asked for money back, but I didn't want to upset the custom and reputation of the establishment, thinking it might only have been a single bad experience. But the online reviews are not great, so it doesn't feel like a one-off bad experience. But a bad experience it most certainly was.
The service from behind the counter and the outdoor seating was fine.
I love prawns and crab and lobster, but I won't be buying lunch from the Seafood...
Read moreFriday 25th of august after several trips to Stonehaven harbour it was a delight to see them open and my wife chose the crab toastie for two £24 When it arrived my eyes were not fed by what appeared in front of me cheap white bread with burnt end lettuce sticking out what appeared to be a host of different ingredients that took away from the crab meat served with soft Takos with sweet chilli sauce a completely incongruous plate of food owners take yourself to the sea food shack in Ullapool and see and taste real sea food served appropriately at a reasonable cost I feel robbed and disgusted as my stomach has complained for the...
Read moreThe customer service really was top. Both of them just wonderful with friendly smiles and pleasant conversation. Unfortunately, there was very little lobster on my "prawn and lobster brioche" and therefore I thought it was WAY overpriced. It was essentially what I would call a small bay shrimp sandwich for £12 with a few small pieces of lobster in it. Delicious, but scandalously overpriced. So minus two stars for value. Nice wee salad with it, though. It was unfortunately quite windy and therefore a challenge to keep my meal from blowing away while seated at one of the...
