Met up with a friend after work and before heading out for drinks, we thought we'd grab some food at the Slug & Lettuce.. The idea was to order something that wouldn't take long to prepare and the "Feast with Friends" sounded perfect. I ordered the food, (no teriyaki-glazed chicken which was disappointing) along with some drinks and we sat down for a chat while we waited.. And waited. After a while we noticed people that had arrived after us having their food served, figuring our food would be next we continued to wait. Eventually, a waitress came over and asked if we'd been waiting long and I said "yeah, for an hour now", she said she'd look into the situation. She came back to tell us our order had been lost and apologised, we were then told our options: a full refund or continue to wait for our food. Bearing in mind we'd been ignored for a full hour I thought this was pretty weak, I asked for a couple of drinks on the house and the waitress obliged. Most places offer some kind of sweetener to make the customer feel better, to have to ask seemed really odd. The food arrived about twenty minutes later and looked pretty uninspiring, I instantly thought of an Iceland buffet platter. Taste-wise it wasn't far off; a bland, salty, stodgy overload which could have been avoided with the addition of a bowl of coleslaw or salad. The southern fried chicken goujons were tasteless, as were the breaded mushrooms, margherita arancini, frittata, onion rings (rock hard), garlic ciabatta bread strips and fries. We couldn't even tell the difference between the ketchup and the barbecue sauce they were that bad. Price-wise, it was a lot for the quality of food you receive, also, the music was awful, cheesy old corny rubbish. In the end we couldn't finish the food and to be honest couldn't wait to leave, we'd wasted so much time already. Weymouth's become a decent place to eat out, so I was really surprised that the Slug & Lettuce was such a let down in every way, especially as there's so much...
Read moreWhere do I start? I’ve come down to Weymouth on a family holiday and thought we’d Visit for some food there was a few of us including my 4 year old daughter , it was a Sunday evening not busy at all when we walked in most tables still needed to be wiped down full with glasses and what not my partner had gone up to the woman that was working there and had asked if we could have our table wiped and cleaned she rudely then turned around to him and said “well you do know you are all going to get IDed” bearing in mind we hadn’t even sat down yet so BEFORE even having our table wiped we were all IDed ...rudely....waited about 15 mins for them to wipe our table down with a rude gentlemen doing it he came over didn’t say a word just started spraying cleaner onto our table. Took ages to order off of the app and my sister and he partner got there food and drinks and finished them before we even got our drinks .... me and my partner and my 4 year old waited 20 minutes for our drinks which is just shocking my 4 year old was getting bored whilst bar staff seemed quite happily doing there now little thing. (Bear in mind it was not busy at all) I would’ve understood the wait if it was busy. after waiting around 40 mins for our food , they had missed things off of mine and my partners plate and to top it off as we were eating the man from the bar decided to come up to us and say “oh btw guys under 18s have to be out by 8:30” if they didn’t take so long with the food then I wouldn’t be mad at that but it was the pure cheek just as we were trying to eat our meal. The food was ....ok....nothing special really , mostly need to get rid of the rude and judgmental staff. Very very awful service. Not happy very unwelcoming do...
Read moreNot a good night for us or the restaurant, ordered our food and waited an hour. When the food arrived the waitress asked is this all your order or is anything missing to which we told her yes there is food missing and told her what it was, she said she'd go get it. When she returned with it we then asked for some condiments as there wasn't any on the table, she said she'd get some and went off. during this time we also discovered our streaks were rare which was not what we asked for, still waiting for the condiments my partner noticed the waitress was serving other tables instead so went and asked her again for the condiments and to come and sort our steaks out, She then came and took them away then came back to tell us the chef said it would take a further 15 minutes. In the mean time the table to our left had their money back and left as they had been waiting nearly 2 hours for their food, the table to our right had to complain as there was issues with their food and the table next to them also had to complain as their order was also not to their expectations. Eventually when our food did arrive again it was still incorrect with my partner having had Items added to her plate she had asked to be removed during her original order, after that had been corrected I then realised I had no cutlery to eat my food with and had to go find the waitress again. It was not a good night and this being our first visit to a slug and lettuce restaurant didn't fill us with confidence to make a second. Just to clarify though once we did eventually receive our correct order, condiments and cutlery, we did enjoy the meal, it's just a shame it was such a task to get...
