Planet Papadum Restaurant — Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

I don’t usually leave restaurant reviews, but this place angered me so much that I felt compelled to do so on this occasion. We arrived as a party of 6 adults, 4 kids and a baby. A sign outside said ‘thank you NHS’ and as all 6 adults in our group are NHS doctors, we were pleased to see it. The lady who greeted us on our entrance immediately started to pull unhappy faces on seeing our group. Then she said, ‘fine you can stay but I can’t give you a high chair because it’s being used’. She acted like she was doing us a huge favour by allowing us to stay, even though the restaurant was not very busy. We then ordered a mix of things and she reappeared saying ‘I’m not trying to be rude but you have to order at least £10 per person’. This actually did come across very rude. Perhaps this policy could be made more clear prior to ordering or at least she could have expressed it in a more polite manner and apologised. She did not know how much we were short by and we had not ordered our drinks yet. If she had better customer service skills, we would have been happy to order a couple more items. She still did not apologise when we expressed that we felt unwelcome and would find somewhere...

Date of visit 01/01/2017 table was booked for 8:15pm & we were seated a little early(8:10pm) which we thought was great & its now once we are seated that the service starts to go down hill fast! They were not busy as there was 4 tables including ours & the rest of the place was empty it still took the nearly 25mins to come ask if we would like any drinks & then all we got was "YOU WANT DRINKS" so we gave them our drinks order which took them a further 15mins to get which we thought was a bit long as it was 3 cobra beers( in bottles ) & 1 J2o & 2 cokes we quickly got the feeling that the staff didn't really want to be there as after we got our drinks it was another 10mins before we were asked what food we would like which to be honest arrived quite swiftly taking into account the rest of the slow service & as the food it was average nothing that you couldnt buy in asda or tesco's for less money

So just to cover everything quickly Seated quickly the made to wait for drinks Food Very average recommend trying...

Was great service and food to start with. Found a couple of hairs in the meal. Mentioned it to the staff, not expecting anything back but just to make them aware as they were busy. We were then approached by the manager who got aggressive, accused us as liars and said it wasn't the staff hair. Fine, not getting in to an argument but he did agree to remove the cost from the bill as we couldn't eat anymore as it put us off. The bill was amended but incorrectly. When we questioned this, he got very aggressive again and said he'd had a long day(not our fault) then took photos of us and said we can phone the police if we want, all in a very busy restaurant. No apology was offered. The waitress was very helpful and understanding and couldn't apologise enough for his actions. It is a shame, the food was lovely but we will not be returning due to his attitude. As mentioned in previous reviews, the manager is in desperate need of a customer...
