The Arches — Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

We tried to book by phone, but were told that they weren't taking bookings. Too busy. So we just turned up on the door. Had to wait 10 mins for a table... (not bad?) Ordered the food, had to wait another 35 mins for the meal. Unfortunately, no draught beer, so we had bottles. "What about the food? " I hear you say..... Well.... we asked for the chef to be sedated because we wanted sirloin steaks, very well done. You know what? It was Great....! Nice thick slabs of meat, perfectly cooked (for us) Not tiny portions of sauce..... proper gravy boats full of sauce and mushrooms (one Diane, one Chasseur). It's a good job we didn't order starters, because we wouldn't have ate it all. So, to sum up, with the booze, about £74 for a proper meal we could NOT FAULT. And, it was well worth the wait. Would do it again in a heartbeat. We offered our Thanks to the chef, and the waiter said he would try to wake him...

We went to this restaurant last night for a family “holiday” dinner, we ordered 6 meals which included 3 with fish and chips. When mine came it had 2 smaller pieces of fish to make a medium (and a random roast potato) one of the pieces of fish was lovely but the other tasted and smelt bad - the other fish dinners were fine. When we told the waiter he said he would let the chef know. Then 2 other waiters came and said the chef said it was all from the same batch so couldn’t be bad. I told them to smell the fish, then another waiter came and said the fish was fine and basically said I was lying and argued with me in the restaurant ! When paying I had to pay IN FULL !! Also the staff may have been wearing gloves and masks but the tables defiantly were not social...

Went there for dinner the other day after looking for somewhere that wasn't to expensive but was still decent food and nice to look at. The food was amazing and the person who served us we are not sure if he was just a waiter or the manager but he was amazing aswell nothing was to much for him. Both me and my wife had the extra large roast dinner with Yorkshire puds and our daughter had spaghetti Bolognese and the sizes were great and the flavours to die for can honestly say when we come back to Great Yarmouth we will be coming back for more. So if you are looking for a great family restaurant that isint very expensive at all then this is the place to go and it's nice and close to the sea...
