Mama Geny's (Formerly Kai Vegan) — Restaurant in Hastings

We are so glad we came across ‘Mama Geny’s’! This is plant based food, made with passion & truly genuine care.

Me my partner & friends were looking for plant based options in East Sussex & although the options were vast, to my pleasure, nothing came as close as Mama Geny’s!

The food was incredibly fresh & tasted like it had been marinated not only with an abundance of herbs and spices but also a magical blend of love & positivity. Food options that frequently change, correlating to the seasons.

We were greeted by Geny themselves, a small person, with outrageously large smile & aura to match. (I hope they don’t mind me saying)

Geny offered us a table outside & shared some details about the buffet, they had made that day. We devoured the tasty food, in minutes despite being advised to fill our plates up to max. The stew being my absolute favourite.

You’re not just getting plant based food here. You are getting what foods all about, connecting people, solidifying the essence of home, whilst engendering a future of love, care & compassion.

This is one of the best vegan experiences we've had in Hastings. Mama Geny was in the kitchen, And Sapphire out front was absolutely helpful and navigated us through all the bits of the menu that we didn't necessarily know exactly what were. We pretty much had a selection of everything on the menu and all of it was brilliant flavoursome well-balanced and just really delicious. This is an unpretentious but really authentic food place of choice. Whilst we were there, at least two of the tables had trouble down from London specifically to actively come and eat there. We felt lucky that we were visiting Hastings. The desserts are really delicious and innovative.

They do a buffet lunch on a Thursday and Friday for 8 lb which is really great value. You would be sad to miss this. The fact that everything in there is vegan is absolutely a bonus and for those who don't require that in their diet.

This is such a great place to bring someone because you won't feel like you're missing out, whether you're a vegetarian or a meat eater. You will be delighted by anything that you have in this restaurant. I can't...

Salamat! Amazing food supplied to an event held for Christmas. Within 15 minutes, all the food had gone it was that delicious and everyone was really happy.

Owners were super nice upon waiting for picking up the dishes, even offered us as drink and spare spring rolls they’d cooked.

They even cut some fruit up for us for the event, which was a super lovely gesture from them. As it was for an event, it was great that they even included food tags to each dish which explained the name of the dish, what it may contain and any allergens.

We’re really happy with the service, food and it’s great to have different food options to explore in town.
