Med-one Restaurant — Restaurant in Kirklees

I was so disappointed. I have been visiting this restaurant for years, it's where I go when I want something a bit up-market, as although it's a bit on the expensive side the quality of the food and the service has always been excellent.

On this occasion I brought my 11 year old son as a New Years Eve treat, I told him he'd have to behave because it's an adult restaurant. The meal started fine with starters arriving quick enough and everything was fresh and tasty. Mains took a very long time to come and I noticed that the waitresses though helpful when approached looked tired and not up to providing an attentive service. When the mains did arrive they came with the side of chips missing. I asked three times about the missing chips and on each occasion was told by a waitress that they were coming without any apology or sense of urgency. By the time they arrived the meal was almost over. I asked to speak to the manager who was extremely rude. He demanded that I tell him whether I still wanted the chips or not without allowing me to actually explain the issue to him or offering any sort of apology. His tone was defensive and dismissive and even when he asked what I wanted to happen to make things better his tone was so antagonistic that I couldn't continue to engage with him.

All he had to say was sorry the chips were late I'll take them off the bill and that would have been that but instead he spoke to me like I was beneath him. I was so upset that me and my son left and took the remaining food away in doggy bags. When I told the manager point blank that he should be ashamed of his behaviour he said simply that he was tired and demonstrated plainly that he didn't care what I thought. I find the booking system archaic and the manager unfriendly

Where do I start, I wanted to book a table of 14, you cannot book online or by email, you have to book over the phone. I phoned and was told I had to pay £5.00pp deposit and pre order the food. I said, not a problem, I’ll pay the deposit now over the phone, the manager said you can’t pay over the phone you have to come in, I asked why and was not given an explanation, I thought maybe they don’t take card payments, they do. So I had to make a special trip to pay the deposit, greeted by an unhappy looking manager. When we’d had our meal I spoke to manager for an explanation on the booking process, he said “it’s how we’ve done it for the last 10 years”, I explained it’s inconvenient having people making a special trip on an evening to pay deposits and you will be putting people off, he wasn’t interested, but why would you be, we had only spent £360.00 plus tip

This is a real shame as the food is fantastic as always, the waitress did a great job by herself (although my wife and I did end up with a pot of Salsa dip spilt down us whilst having our food served, it was an accident and she...

My partner and I went for a romantic meal... we were seated right next to a party of around 20 people... quite noisy. When I asked to be seated at a quiter table I was told ' wait there!!! Eventually was told to go back to my seat and someone will come and move us.. We were moved to a little quite table. Asked the waitress for a light for the candle' I don't know I'll check' candle never got lit... Ordered our food... starters were delicious calamari/ hallumi... over priced for what they'd weredelicious all the same. There was no polite table service. Finished our main which was again delicious. Waited 20mins no one came to our table. Went to the owner era and said that the food was delicious bur the service was absolutely appalling All he said was well its Friday and it's busy. Will not be going there again...
