Little Lotus Huddersfield — Restaurant in Kirklees

I don't normally come to Huddersfield. After work, I noticed a number of people eating food from Little Lotus in the city centre. Intrigued, I made my way to this food place. There is a good number of seating both upstairs and downstairs. I sat upstairs, hence the photo attached.

Some of the food here is halal. However, it's best to ask the staff before making your order. Readymade halal boxes usually say 'HALAL' on them. It's to do with the sauces they use. I was moved by the variety of foods this place has to offer. Mostly readymade foods are sold here, located in the fridges at the front of the store. There is also hot food served at the counter. Based on all the hot options, just one chicken option was not halal. Again, always ask if you are unsure of what you can and cannot eat.

I opted for the Veg gyoza Miso Rice Noodles from the fridges, which the lady heated up for me. I also bought the HALAL Veggie Set to go. It had what appeared to be strands of seaweed on top of rice balls in a fried pocket, topped with crispy fried onions, and with a side of sushi rounds. My sushi vocabulary isn't that great as you can probably tell lol.

The Veg gyoza Miso Rice Noodles were tasty. Not overly different from similar foods spots, but very hearty and piping hot! Proper comfort food :)

Visited lotus two days in a row, the first day I bought a small Katsu Curry with noodles. I only got 3 pieces of breaded chicken and they clearly hadn’t been cooked for long enough. The sauce was super runny and potatoes hard. Usually the noodles used for hot food are seasoned and kept heated in a container however at this branch they just use ramen noodles and cook them in broth before putting them in your container all wet. The second day I came back hoping it was just an off day, I ordered a small chicken teriyaki with noodles, again the same issue, wet noodles and I even got some carrot and mange tout in my food which are only included in the ramen (would upload images however there is no option for me to do this) I ordered a small however I was charged over £6 when it only should have been 5.49. I used to absolutely love this food, it was always so fresh and nice. Especially when the man (I think he owns it?) was there lot. He listened to criticism given by customers. However within the past year my favorite place just isn't the same. Recent few times I've been I've found hair in my food and even a dead fly 😔I told the group of girls also the miso was very bland and they don't seem to listen. I hope this review can lead to some improvement as the food was once amazing.

EDIT** The staff kindly offered a voucher for me to come in and try the food again, unfortunately I was in Thailand so couldn't come. BUT I visited again today and the food was delicious. They have listened to critisism and I am glad to come back again....
