Staff are kind and friendly, food is reliable and cheap. Good range including vegan, gluten free and other options (although there's a reduced menu now), and the coffee machine now does caffeine free options - result! (Photo below of drink options). Free refills on coffee and tea, clean cups on bar to swap with used ones. Accessible toilet (with Radar key) upstairs and flat access in from the street - one of only a few wheelchair friendly eateries in town. During the day it's reasonably quiet and good for meals. Post lockdown it's screened off effectively, so they are trying their best. Great place.

Have been visiting this place on a Saturday night, where it was packed. Personally I would not have chosen it for dinner but the others did want to. I have decided to give the grilled mix a try - I did not have high expectations as with this low price and my assumption was unfortunately right: wasn't good. Guess for having some drinks its fine - otherwise I would avoid. Update: Have been giving this place a 2nd try - as for breakfast it consider it okay.

Not as nice as The Lord Wilson down the bottom end of town, but still a decent pub. They don't play music here, so it's nice to come in and get my laptop out in the afternoons/evenings. Always a good selection of ales on. The downstairs are is generally quieter too, with plenty of tables. Can get loud on an evening when it fills up.

Immediately after we left the pub, I was ready to give it a 1 star review. My wife, son, and I went there before the Stereophonic’s gig at the JS Stadium on Saturday 14th. The pub was overrun and didn’t seem to have enough staff on to handle such a busy day. Queues at the bar were approx 20-30 minutes, and it was the same for ordering drinks via the app. First impressions were very poor.

My wife tried to order food and the app kept freezing at the point of payment. This happened a few times, so I ordered on my phone and the order went through. Food arrived and was good. When we arrived at the stadium, my wife got an email confirming her order and she’d been charged. This did not help improve our opinion of the pub one bit!

However, we went back to the pub and spoke to George, the manager. They were still very busy, but he took time to look into this and refunded my wife for the order that had gone through. We didn’t expect this, we just thought we’d ask on the off chance. George, the 5 stars are for you. You were calm under extreme pressure and you’re a credit to your...

My husband and I moved to Huddersfield in September 2022... At that time, we did not rate Wetherspoons and on the occasions we went in, preferred other Wetherspoon branches.. HOWEVER That has now changed and we have become regulars who go in there to eat, largely because of how good things have become under the management of George and his team. I believe I am right in saying George is the General Manager. George is exceptionally customer focused, has a fantastic attitude and has really turned things around. The food is always delicious and we know it will go from strength to strength! In terms of star rating, George himself gets a clear 5 out of 5! As a mature student (in my 40s), my husband and I have to carve out time for togetherness. Going there means I can work, study and have a change of environment and we know we will get good value for money.

Thank...

The place is full of drugs. The staff are lacking intelligence an training. The manager called Niall lacks in managerial skills an is arrigant an drunk with power. The policy of your pub we was told is that the staff check outside the pub every half hour, this was not clearly done. As myself an girlfriend told the staff on two occasions that there was drugs been smoked on the premises. We were both appaulled to have witnessed this an I helped the manager Niall to bring in the table's an chair's from outside the premises as their was a male that was mouthing at Niall so I stayed to help. It is definitely a place we will not be going in again to have seen the cliental of custom you have in your Huddersfield the cherry tree premises...
