The first impression of the Accidental Brewery and Micropub is that you have entered a home or small, select, members club as you ascend the soft carpeted stairs to the bar. This impression will stay with you for the rest of your visit, and it is a good impression.
The Micropub is just that, a single large room that will hold maybe 30-50 people with a right-angled bar taking up a single corner. The micro-brewery is apparent as you approach the bar as the large brewing tank sits at the back.
Now this may feel like a negative opening statement, but it isn't as by now you should realise this is a home-like experience, a comforting place filled with friends, family and good experience. the Accidental Brewery is a family filled with smiles. The atmosphere was pleasant no matter what number of people were in the bar, it seems that it attracts a clientele who wish to sample fine ales and enjoy good company.
I went for my first visit on a Saturday night. The pub has very select hours and a distinct focus on craft beers. You will find 10 beers on tap, a pair on pump and many others in a fridge (bottles and cans) all in all over 20 select ales. They are served in 1/3rd 1/2 or full pint measures (dependent on strength) and it is worthwhile sticking to smaller measures with the stronger ales to increase the number you experience and keep yourself upright.
Thankfully I was able to taste some of the house ale, drunk within ten feet of where it was made so decreasing the carbon footprint for that ecological bonus. It was a good pale ale with a nice (bu not overly punchy) citrus undercurrent and a hint of milky smoothness to make it very rounded.
There is little doubt that I will be visiting the brewery again. I would estimate an average spend of 15-18 pounds will allow you to sample 5-6 good beers and to spend a very enjoyable early evening.
An unmissable cultured experience and a fine addition to Lancaster's Independent food and drinks manufacturers and suppliers. This brewery and pub is truly...
Read moreAccidental Brewery is a hidden little gem in Lancaster! I remember when I very first visited I walked into the entrance and the only indication of where to go was a small sign saying "beer served here" with an arrow pointing to the upstairs. Walking up you can hear a buzz of atmosphere and upon entering it feels friendly, warm and cosy.
They have 10 craft beers on tap, 2 more on cask, a fridge full of different beers as well as a selection of gins, wines and soft drinks.
The great thing about Accidental is your can tell that this small family business is run with passion. Sitting round the bar you can't help but be in awe of the brewing equipment and what they are currently creating. There is a large list of the current craft beers available each with there own tasting description. They are more than happy to let you sample the beers so that what you choose is to your tastes!
We have continued to visit Accidental on a regular basis and thoroughly look forward to each visit! The beer they offer is of the highest quality and standards and you always get a friendly face serving you!
I cannot recommend this place enough, whether you are a beer enthusiast, just interested in trying a good beer, or even sampling something a little bit different, they really do...
Read moreOne of the best pubs in Lancaster. Don’t be expecting a full sized pub, this is a very small space above a shop. Although they have now expanded into the car park too- don’t be odour by this. It means there is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. You are given a blanket on arrival and are surrounded by heat lamps. Pricing is fairly reasonable and there is a great deal of options across the beer/wine/gin menus. I visited most recently on a Saturday evening and was pleasantly surprised to see a live singer in the outdoor area. If you enjoy all Phil and are baiting lancaster this place is a must visit.
They have a partnership with Aquila pizza and so you can also have authentic napoleon pizzas delivered to your table. Fantastic partnering of local,...
