I visit my son at university regularly and am always looking for new places to eat in Lancaster. Had high hopes as this restaurant looked good from outside and has high reviews, but we left disappointed.
When sat at our table the atmosphere was loud and buzzing and our order was taken swiftly. We ordered drinks, starters and pizzas.
The food arrived quickly, so quickly that they didn’t bring us the starters. But now the pizzas had arrived there didn’t seem much point in asking for the missing starters, not that I had a chance before the waiter placed the plates and wizzed off.
The food wasn’t much better. My son said his Americana was OK, but the size of the pizza is small for the price. Being called Calzone Mexicana I expected mine to be a bit hot, spicy, and flavourful, but it was none of those, very bland.
At least when the bill arrived the starters were not included, so that part of the order was obviously never passed to the kitchen. I mentioned the missing starters to the waitress that brought us the bill (but didn’t take our order), and she gave us the faintest of apologies anyone could manage. The waiting staff you see are all basically children with little experience in good restaurant service.
Next time I’m in Lancaster I’ll be giving...
Read moreWe went here as it was recommended as a good place to take kids. Hmm..... Pros: the place is nice and airy especially up in the window section, fresh decor, they had a highchair and gave colouring sheets and crayons for the kids, the waiting staff were pleasant. Cons: the value for money is awful. The pizzas come in two sizes 10 inch and 7 inch . The starting price for a 10 inch is £8.50 with most of the options around the £10 mark. This is what you would perhaps pay in a chain restaurant for a 12 inch pizza. Not enough to share with my toddler really. My daughter's £6 kid's pizza was teensy and left her still hungry. I thought we could top up our meal with a dessert but they are all around £5 and i decided against it. Basic soft drinks are a minimum £2.50. Everything was just a bit more expensive than necessary for something quite ordinary. Finally, I asked for a small plate so I could share my pizza with my child in his highchair. The plate was ceramic and too big to fit to fit on the tray. This is a general annoyance of mine. Get yourself some small plastic plates from Ikea and I might come back. Actually,...
Read moreDon't really understand the rave reviews for this place. I wanted to go elsewhere but partner chose as I normally do so only fair. She hadn't been for 15+ yrs and wanted to go. Ordered chilli bread to start which we shared. It was just bit of flat bread with tomato puree spread on it and some chilli flakes and a bit of chopped parsley. I expected a bit more imagination perhaps fresh chillis at least. Ah well onto the mains. 1 margharita and an americano with option of jalapenos for £1. Again same as before flat bread with what seems like tomato puree cheddar cheese small bits of pepperoni and almost none existent jalapenos. Add a sprinkling of dried oregano. They literally tasted like the type you make at home for kids when you re using ingredients you already have in I.e. Cheddar and puree. The reason I didn't want to go is because I discovered neopolitan pizza years ago and don't really bother with anything else. I have to assume these pizzas have never past the lips of the regulars that frequent here. Being from Lancaster id have loved it to have been so much nicer so we could go again but sadly I...
