Kanteena — Restaurant in Lancaster

Beautiful sunny day! 🌞 Have had many recommendations for the Taco Thursday at the Kanteena, decided it was a good evening to indulge as the sun was shining! and as it happened, on every single table! (A rare thing in Lancaster beer gardens!) Had a very well made Aperol Spritz, and perused the menu. Everything sounded delicious, so hard to choose… but at £1.50 a taco I realised I could try them all. Started with the chicken. Who knew chicken could taste like this! Slow cooked, crispy skin, salads, spinach, spicy sauce, and a secret ingredient?? Which I later found out was truffle…delicious. Next up was the Halloumi, what can I say…. Certainly didn’t disappoint! They were so delicious, I took a take away for the hubby of the Aubergine, he’s not yet eaten, but I’m sure he is in for a massive treat! In all honesty, don’t ever think I’ve had such quality, well prepared food at this amazing price! Hats off to the chef, he obviously takes pride, and loves what he does! Thank you Kanteena for a scrummy...

The bartenders were really rude, I ordered a single gin and lemonade which cost £4.50 and my boyfriend ordered 2 pints which were £5.50 each. Afterwards, I went to the bar to order one glass of water and the bartender tried to give me a £2 bottled water, I asked for a tap water instead which is a legal requirement of pubs and he told me to fill my cup in the bathroom whilst rolling his eyes.

My boyfriend then went to the bar to ask for a water and was told by the woman that ‘they don’t mind giving water occasionally but not when someone is constantly ordering water’ considering we had already spent money and it’s a legal requirement I thought this was extremely rude and unnecessary.

My friend was also overcharged for his cheesy chips and overall the food was overpriced and very average and the atmosphere was also rubbish especially considering it was an England euros...

Essentially after our booking was cancelled by the restaurant we were advised to walk in at an earlier time, which we did. The bouncer told us there was no availability for the whole of today, despite the place having a substantial amount of seats free. The issue arose when we found out a couple of minutes later they were allowing other people without bookings to walk in, despite rejecting us. When we questioned the bouncer on this he gaslight and patronised us and completely changed his story. I have suspicion to believe that his mannerisms were racially motivated. In addition to this he denied our request to speak to a manager, therefore I cannot fault the management at...
