Baretto Restaurant — Restaurant in Leeds

With quite a few positive reviews, I was really looking forward to trying Rustica. Normally I try and see positives in restaurants however I was left feeling so disappointed after eating here.

The atmosphere on entering was very nice, however staff were incredibly curt, almost bordering rude and appeared not to want to be there.

We ordered the Rustica Special pizza and pasta with meatballs. The Rustica special was average at best - a very good base however very little cheese and no spices or flavouring. The meatball dish was ridiculously bad - no meatballs, just diced bits of bland meat. The sauce was shocking, even worse than if they’d got it out of a jar (how is that possible?!) and finally pasta tasted over cooked as if it had been left there all evening.

This is very much a takeaway that has seats as opposed to a restaurant that does take out food. I was incredibly impressed with the pizza - it was fresh, tasty, and made to order. I had a garlic bread alongside, however, and that was too greasy for my liking. I was offered no form of napkin which would have proven incredibly useful given the combination of greasy garlic bread and a flour base pizza - this simple change may well have tipped it up another star. I'd get pizza from there again but I'd consider the take away...

Staff were kind and very welcoming, but food was extremely disappointing; although the pizza looked nice, we all went for chicken meals.

The chicken was dry and unseasoned; the most was a bunch of black pepper. I had chicken skewers; I beg you not; I literally got one chicken skewer. But as someone who works in hospitality, I didn’t want to be a pain and complain as it was busy.
