The University of Leeds has become truly special to me, and I have grown to love it deeply. I completed a 40-week internship in “Leadership in Higher Education” at the Business School, and I would like to share my experience and impressions. Of course, there is so much I could say, but I’ll focus on the key highlights.
At the Business School, I worked under the guidance of the academic director of the program, Dr. Sourendra Banerjee, and program director Ton Vathutala. I truly admire them—they are highly qualified professionals. Thanks to their approach, I gained a wealth of new and valuable knowledge that will be essential in my professional journey.
To improve my English, I attended classes at the Language Zone, taught by wonderful instructors like Coraline Schneider and Sabina Gradeck. I particularly enjoyed their weekly sessions, “Presenting with confidence” with Slides. These classes not only helped me overcome language barriers but also developed my quick thinking, creativity, and self-confidence. This unique approach is something you rarely find elsewhere.
I must also highlight the university library—it is incredibly rich in resources and very well-organized. Once you step inside, you don’t want to leave!
To stay active, I regularly visited the Edge Sports Centre. It’s a clean, comfortable space where you can choose from a variety of activities to suit your interests.
I also want to emphasize the excellent organization of the student residences. They are clean, comfortable, and the staff are always helpful and supportive. I stayed at Lupton Residences and had a great experience there.
Another major advantage of the university is the efficiency of its email system for resolving any issues quickly and conveniently. The staff are incredibly friendly and responsive—you can’t help but wonder how they found such amazing people! :)

So it with great sadness that I have to write this review. Frankly I would not recommend Leeds Uni to my worst enemy.
PLUSES Fun city, a mix of students, not that expensive to live in.
MINOR MINUSES V little tutorials
MAJOR MINUS The snr staff of the university treat their students with utter contempt. Put simply, they think its ok to bully students. Whether its on the grounds of anti-working class bigotry or any other form of pettiness. Frankly the place stinks. I had friends on the staff, and exam grading is v much subject to bias.. even malice.
The overwhelming problem is that students are seen by some staff as an interference in their research/moneymaking. Fair play and respect for students amongst the snr managerment "mafia" is no existent. I knew numerous students who were harrassed and bullied by staff over various matters. We really are talking about 40, 50 even SIXTY yr old "children" on the staff. They literally consider themselves to be a law unto themselves.
Additionally, a Leeds degree doesnt really cut a lot of ice with employers these days. Thro massive expansion, teaching has suffered. Sure its ahead of many "new unis", but the "Russell Group" thing is frankly an irrelevancy for careers in banking, law, commerce etc, as far as Leeds is concerned.
I always find it quite funny, all these yrs later when they call/write asking for donations from me to the university.
Sorry, but it can frankly be a damned horrible place to study.I wouldn't recommend...
Read moreReviewing the online program (MSc in AI) at UoL, it was one of the worst learning experiences I have ever had, and I had my share of online programs and courses, they have an online program but did not plan it through, please note that I am writing this review not because I failed the courses, I passed two modules, however I can safely say I gained zero knowledge about many important aspects of the program and thus started from scratch somewhere else - those are my remarks: Their portal is not intuitive and not user friendly Professors not trained to prepare materials for online courses, nor trained on how to give efficient, straight to the point video lectures, maybe one or two videos (for a whole course) tackling one or two activities Assessments are not drafted / reviewed by people who know educations basics, for instance, core ideas not covered, and many points on irrelevant ideas, and questions do not make sense No formative assessments and no preparatory / training quizzes, they just surprise you with the final exam, and even if there are formative assessments they are not related to the exam, so it seems they got some chunks from previous materials and tried to glue it together, but it did not make sense nor it was related Prices are overrated, quality to price ratio is terrible They tell you it is a 4 years program, so you assume materials are properly distributed, you get surprised that you should spend 20 hours a week (at minimum!) to be able to barely cover the core materials
A huge loss of money and time, not recommended at all (talking about the online program...
