Very mixed bag of results. 1st thing, Covid security. Got in at 11.10am ordered unlimited breakfast and unlimited coffee/tea. Upon entering told to sanitize. Did that. Was seated. Only a few people in the pub. The staff member was very pleasant. Couldn't see an option to pay with an app. When other people came they were all seated at tables near ours, which is ok of the pub was packed, but it was deserted, and this happened with a few couples who came in, why not mitigate risk and seat us further apart? We went over to the breakfast station. Not what I thought. There was a server, who didn't wear a mask or gloves and there was no useful protective plastic covering the food so both the server and the customers could contaminate the food. Should fully cover the food on the customer section and should cover the top on the servers section to avoid contamination. What was there was inadequate to say the least. And when you leave you normally pay a visit to the toilets, you wash your hands then have to touch handles there is no handwash near the toilets outside of them or when you leave the dedicated exit route. So unless you go to the entrance you cannot sanitize your hands when leaving. On the food side, the last time you can order unlimited breakfast is 11.15am yet it finishes at 11.30am, no time if you want a 2nd helping.... same with the unlimited tea/coffee, so unless you pile your plate high or order 2 cups of tea/coffee for yourself don't expect seconds. Cut off point is too late. Latest should be 11.00am, if dinner starts 11.30am. Can't complain with the food, very tasty and good value...if you can get unlimited in time. Improvements needed for me to return...
Read moreWe visited on Tuesday 26th of October at 6.30 pm. I have been to a few Stonehouse pubs and always found them to be very good and great value. We were staying at Colton Mill so decided to give this one a try, it was not a good decision. There were 6 of us in our group and 3 of us came for the carvery, unfortunately it had finished at 6.30 so we all had to order from the main menu. After a few attempts at ordering we were told it was either chicken burger or pizza as they had nothing else in stock, so 5 burgers and a pizza it was. Another problem arose as the servery had been cleared there was nothing to accompany the meal. After a bit of complaining the waitress agreed to ask the chef to do some chips. I can accept that not all of the menu may not be available at all times but there is no need to be so rude about it, it is not the customers fault and this was not just one staff member, we were made to feel like an inconvenience throughout our visit. It was early evening and not late, also 3 more families came in after us and the dining area had been roped off to prevent anyone else from entering. I will still use Stonehouse pubs just not this one. When we finally got our food it wasnt bad but we were past caring by then and just wanted to eat and leave, we gave the desserts a miss and called in to Colton Mill McDonald's for ice cream where the staff were...
Read moreWe visited to take advantage of the fantastic 2 for 1 pizza deal at the end of a stressful day and had a lovely laid back evening at the Barnbow. The food was cooked just how we like it being tasty, hot and fresh, with both the food and drinks also being great value for money. Our drinks were a little slow to come after ordering on the app but, the team were very apologetic when they realised we had been waiting a while and were also quick to rectify the issue although, we weren’t in any rush anyway. In contrast, our pizza’s arrived very quickly and the stuffed crust option is well worth the upgrade. We finished with a rocky road sundae which, is an indulgent delight and in all honesty is huge so, there was plenty for two people to share but, the highlight for us was the friendly service we received. Sue was very helpful and went out of her way to make our visit enjoyable. Nothing was to much hassle even when she was busy serving other tables and she definitely made us feel welcome to return again in the future! Overall it was exactly what we were looking for and although not applicable to us, this pub is very family friendly too which, is nice to see as, those kind of pubs are rarer to find these days! We would certainly recommend paying this...
