Brød is pretty much a Leeds institution but it's one I've neglected for a while so when Chef Jono from V&V included a great review in one of his Instagram posts recently I realised it has been too long. The first thing you notice is it seems very busy, don't be put off by a queue, most folk are just outside waiting for their order to be freshly made becausethe interior is quite snug. It doesn't take long so just tag onto the end. I went for the same Tandoori Chicken (with onion bhaji, salad, mint raita and mango chutney) in cheese & chilli bread as I'd been influenced by online, it was as good as reported. Lots of flavour, loads of chicken and lovely fresh bread. My willpower was broken (it's not hard) by the choice of brownies and I couldn't resist trying the cookie dough version, perfectly gooey and decadent. Service was super polite and really efficient too, a must-try if you're not a regular already.

A great little sandwich shop with a good selection of sandwiches using quality ingredients. You can choose your bread from a selection behind the counter. It's a very small shop which gets very busy, so whenever I've been, I've had to queue but it moves quickly. They ask you to wait outside once you've ordered then bring your sandwich out within a couple of minutes or so. It's not particularly cheap, but it's worth paying for quality. Oh and the brownies are fantastic!

A really nice little sandwich shop tucked away behind the town hall. Tried the onion bhaji sandwich and it was lovely, plenty of choice for vegetarians

Was looking forward to trying this, given the good reviews, extensive menu and a positive personal recommendation. However, upon entry there was an immediate sense of a hostile atmosphere present, with short, rude staff dealing with the customer in front. Then when asking for my order, I asked for two items on the extensive menu and was told unapologetically and with a smirk that they only had two filling options left and no choice of bread. Appreciate this was just after the lunch rush on a Friday and a full choice of fillings may not be available but never come across such lack of choice or rudeness at any...

Wow. I’ve heard so much about this place over the last twenty years in Leeds, and for some reason have never gone in. But boy am I glad I did today!! I had a tandoori chicken sandwich, with mango chutney in the chilli cheese bread.

It was stunning.

The chicken, so wonderful and juicy. The bread, soft like a cloud. And the bahji… no words.

If you are in Leeds or even just the surrounding area, you MUST visit this sandwich shop. I would have never thought a sandwich could bring to my knees in public but alas, the tandoori chicken in chilli cheese...
