Istanbul Bakery — Restaurant in Leeds

First time I have eaten from here and I was dissapointed with the meal I chose. That's not to say that their other foods aren't good. My friend had the buscuits and loved them. For me the lamb was swimming in oil and did not look or taste apetising. The rice was over cooked. I would have taken it back but the service I noticed from the guy who served me my food was a little brash. He barely spoke to me except to ask what salad and then literally dumped my food down on the side and walked away. This made me feel a little uncomfortable and whilst I waited for my friend, I couldn't help but notice that he was a lot more engaging with the next 2 customers, smiling and thanking them whilst handing their food to them. Of course the whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth, literally! I always try to support small businesses and enjoy exploring different cuisines from around the world. Over the past few years, I’ve visited many places, and unfortunately, this one really disappointed me.

The customer service felt completely absent – it seemed as if the person working there didn’t want to be there at all, which made the whole experience uncomfortable. When ordering, I kindly asked for no onions in my wrap, but my request was ignored. The food was simply handed over with no care or attention, as if the goal was just to get rid of me quickly.

I do understand that this type of place is focused on fast service, but I also believe that paying customers deserve at least a minimum of quality and respect. Sadly, the food itself was not satisfying either.

I won’t stop exploring new places and supporting local businesses, but this is one spot I will definitely skip...

Ive had to change my review because the past few times I've been, they seem to have completely done away with masks or any kind of face covering. Unacceptable considering they are handling food. The reason its 3 stars is that it has high quality food. Really reasonably priced, nice staff and of course, amazing food. I normally go for the falafel sandwich. It sounds weird, but the bread they use is really nice. As someone who usually frequents falafel guys, instabul bakery is better.

Edit for response from owners: guys I know it doesn't matter now, but that's rubbish, I've seen 3 different guys working on different occasions with no masks. Unless it's really bad luck you all...
