On Friday, myself and 6 other friends decided to meet up to celebrate the recent arrival of some of their children as well as the hotly anticipated influx of several more. For weeks, we had planned to meet at your Leeds city centre establishment – but upon entry we couldn’t believe our luck that we were somehow catapulted to the Italian coastline to sample some authentic Neapolitan delicacies.
We were taken to a quiet corner of your restaurant to peruse the menu and Lauren masterfully solved all of the mysteries surrounding it. Though I am not a believer in religion, I do love a pint of faith and Lauren tempted me with one of your new alternatives to this. As someone who usually sits home alone drinking Hooch, I found your options to be exotic and tasty. She weaved and lunged us through your specials and made them sound so tantalising that I even considered changing my ever constant order of ‘Cinghiale with chillies and a garlic dip please’. Her descriptions were so enticing that she persuaded not just one Moffat brother, but two; to order something other than a Margherita. She was patient with us as we ordered drinks and waited for our final friend Leigh to arrive; who took so long he may as well have been coming from Barnsley on a donkey.
We were sure the service would be speedy, but much like Jonny waiting for his twin boys birth – were shocked they came so early. Fortunately there wasn’t a 45 minute wait between the first and last pizza like my aforementioned friend had to suffer through at St James’. Of course, there was no suffering at Rudy’s. A bite into your pizza was a symphony of flavours and it felt as though my tastebuds were on a Ryanair flight straight out of Leeds-Bradford to the floral streets of Naples. There was no sadness as I devoured my way through a slice towards the crust; as I had your garlic sauce to elevate this usually bland area of dough. I can only try to expand my repertoire to your sweet, treacle like honey sauce for my next visit. Of course, there was nothing left on any of our plates to take home; not even Jonny had saved a slice for his hospitalised wife, or to squeeze down one of his newborns’ feeding tubes (all are well don’t worry, but Jonny insisted on letting Lauren into his life outside Rudy’s)!
The last treat that you had in store for us was the bill. After an experience such as the one that Lauren and the rest of the Rudy’s team delivered to us, we were expecting to have to delve deep into the pockets – but the meal came in at a very respectful total. It was an absolute bargain for the experience that we had, one that even I could afford as a striking junior Doctor.
Thank you all for such a great experience, see you all when the next round of babies are...
Read moreBooked for 12pm, arrived at 11:52 and saw a table was already occupied so we went in and was seated, was told that they would not take orders until 12, which was fine, so we were the 2nd table to be seated. While we're looking at the menu a few more tables are filled, then at 12:10 the hostess who seated someone next to us took our drinks order. While waiting for the drinks to arrive several tables had their orders taken and 2 had food delivered to them. Half of our drinks order arrives and our food order was taken, 5 minutes later our remaining drinks order arrives. We are now at 12:30 and people that arrived after we ordered have got food delivered to their table, half our food then arrives at 12:43 with an apology that the 2nd pizza had to be remade and would be 5 minutes. 3 tables have now already eaten and left by this point, when the other pizza arrives the other tables had been filled and orders taken. The pizza was lovely and I would definitely recommend it but the service is shocking. Before leaving this review I went to look if others had experienced the same and I saw a review 3 days prior had experienced this service with a reply from Rudy's blaming it on the till system, that may be true for that time but this time this was purely down to the staff, from the looks of it all the serving staff were having a catch up behind the bar in between taking orders and slowing the service down, people arriving and standing at the door for a few minutes and having to wave to the staff behind the bar for attention when the restaurant was still half empty. If we had have experienced this service at an evening meal out where we would have had 3 courses and coffee after we would not have been able to get through half of it in the 1:30 minutes they...
Read moreTerrible service. I've been going to Rudy's since it opened in Leeds city centre since my company office is 2 minutes away. I love the pizzas and the service has been great until now. I took my daughter for her first Rudy's pizza since I've been banging on about how good the pizza is. We went to Waterstones to buy my daughter some books. The receipt says 15:20. We were starving so we walked straight down to Rudy's. 10 minute walk so we got there around 15:30. It took around 15 minutes for us to get seated and someone to take our order. It was Saturday and busy so no problem there. We ordered drinks and food at the same time since we were starving, from a waiter with bleach bond hair and a leopard cardigan. After half an hour and seeing people who arrived after us getting their food, I politely asked the waiter if our food was coming soon and if he'd possibly forgotten about us. We could see him walk up to the kitchen and clearly place the order. That was about 16:20. He then informed us that it would take about four minutes for our food to arrive. It took another 20 minutes. We were close to walking out after seeing another table get their food who had just arrived 20 minutes ago when our food finally came. No apologies. We ate and paid and I thought I'd give some feedback on this to the staff and see if they would knock something off the bill for the poor service. What really annoyed me, and the reason I'm writing this review is that the staff (manager?) then started arguing with me and accused me of lieing saying that our order was only placed at 16:20 and that we didn't wait long at all. I consider this very bad customer service. No wonder the hospitality industry is going down hill. I won't be going back...
