Nice new bar in a growing part of town. We visited here as a table of 4. Overall it was a good experience. We had a couple rounds of beer and some food. The beer is great quality and there is a nice choice on offer - albeit the prices are on the steeper side. Food was okay we all agreed. £17 for half a chicken and house fries etc had flavours going on but overall it was overpriced. Also it's served on a plastic tray with parchment paper so it just moves all over the place which is so annoying. The burger was nice but could have done with a small side included. The chicken and waffle was okay. The service was too notch by all I had the pleasure of dealing with to credit to the team. The atmosphere is nice too, albeit a bit too loud to work in I imagine but this was on an evening so it's to be expected. One weird part was the layout of the tables towards the toilets.. customers and also staff had to squeeze and bump past people who are trying to enjoy a drink just to get to where food is served and also the toilets - for that reason alone I wouldn't go sit down in that area. Overall a good new addition to Leeds that has been in the works a while now, just needs to refine some features to make it one of my...
Read moreWoodside really is as good as people say. We’ve been five times now and not once had a bad meal – it’s consistently excellent and feels like a little slice of London cool right here in Leeds. The vibe is spot on: stylish interiors, a mix of comfy and communal seating, gorgeous lighting, and always a seriously good playlist humming in the background.
The bar setup deserves a shout too – loads of great drinks on tap and cocktails made fresh with proper ingredients (no pre-made nonsense). A heads-up: the spicy margarita packs a serious punch! But the real gem for me is the impressive selection of German beers in the fridges – top notch.
The menu hits that perfect spot between comfort food and upmarket diner – always slick, with interesting specials and something new to try. Every dish we’ve had has been solid, and it’s clear the kitchen knows what it’s doing.
And the staff? Genuinely excellent. Super friendly, quick on their feet, and clearly proud of the place. They know their stuff.
All in all, Woodside has become one of our absolute favourite spots in Leeds. Go once and...
Read moreAfter my first visit to have their roast I was eager to return. This time for a joint Father's day and Birthday meal.
First time was excellent, I'd call it the second best roast just behind the Brunswick. This time was a bit of a disappointment. The beef was over cooked. Not sure rump cap on a smoker is the best idea (too lean to stand a long cook), some of the veg was under cooked. the 3 cheese broccoli gratin was VERY poor. A halved stalk of broccoli with a little bit of cheese sauce poured over it. It was dry, crunchy (pretty much raw) yet burnt?!?!?! The party of 5 of us didn't finish the single serving. Not the high standard I expect from these folk.
Service is always good, but the food seemed ill-conceived or rushed?!?!
I'm not sure I'd risk it again as it the most expensive roast I know in town. Were they having an off day? I'll stick with...
