We had dinner at Eastern Eye last night and had a wonderful time. The staff were friendly and very attentive, the food was delightful and nobody left hungry. Our children were entertained by the staff and they were very accommodating with the kids’ food choices. It is a great destination for the whole family and Chef Abdul ‘s specialty dishes will make you add this establishment as one of the go to places in Lichfield. When you do go make sure to try the goat curry and the lamb chops, you won’t be disappointed!

Right in the middle of the highstreet close to car park which is free after 18:30. Really attentive staff, good knowledge of dishes. Food terrific, reasonable prices, good portions, would definitely recommend. License bar fair selection of beers wines and spirits.

What a terrible experience. I booked a table on a Friday night for 8.45pm. When we arrived we were greeted warmly but told that our table would be a further 5 to 10 minutes and we were offered a drink and a seat by the front door which we gratefully accepted.

At 9.00pm I enquired with another member of staff when we would be seated, to be told it would be another 5 – 10 minutes as they were extremely busy. Once again we accepted their apology and waited, a few other people arrived for tables that they had booked and were sent away to nearby pubs to have further drinks also. At 9.15 and starting to feel thoroughly annoyed I enquired as to our table once again. Only to be told by another member of staff that it would be a FURTHER 5-10 minutes and that would offer us further free complimentary drinks plus free starters if we could just wait a little longer as they were very busy. At 9.30 I really did lose the will to live with them at Eastern Eye and ask the final waiter what kind of shambles the establishment was. He just kept replying that they were really busy that evening. My argument was that they should NOT have accepted our booking if they could not accommodate us. It was that simple. They had no answer except to keep saying that they were really busy. With that we left and went into the Lal Bagh 2 doors up where both the food and the service were very good indeed.

Unfortunately this was not my first experience with this restaurant as a month or so earlier we had ordered and collected a takeaway from them. We drove home some 15 minutes away only to find that they had given us the wrong order,, so we had to drive back again and get it changed. The takeaway that night was nothing special and we thought rather below par, however we had decided to give the restaurant a try as it had some good reviews.

So in summary, I cant really review the food in the restaurant for obvious reasons but the service at Eastern Eye very poor indeed. I am just thankful that I hadn’t taken a client or a large party out to dinner there or it would have been hugely embarrassing.

Very poor...

Wow, I originally was going to Zaytoun Spice for my takeaway but with 4 mains and sides they only would give me 1 x onion salad so I decided to go else where and chose Eastern Eye, however, after ordering £78 worth of mains and sides it was agreed they would include 4 onion salads which for me was important to have with our meal, (Eatern Eye could have said no), Unfortunately the takeaway arrived very late and with only one onion salad and garlic naan bread missing, I confronted the delivery driver and explained what was missing and the driver said there was 4 onion salads put in one bag (I can tell you it was a normal side for one person not 4), the delivery driver argued he was just the driver then and yet he then said he was the boss and also I didn’t get a receipt because the driver AKA boss didn’t also bring the card machine that they said they would instead of paying it over the phone yet when the delivery driver turned up he had no machine and I still had to pay over the phone.

Overall I was not impressed and very disappointed and made that very clear to the delivery driver/cook/Boss/accountant and customer service Agent.

Will not use again!...

Booked a table for 7-00 on a Saturday and received a phone call at 3.40 asking if we could come earlier, to help them out we agreed to arrive at 6-30. The place was already busy and we got our table, despite covide we were packed in like sardines and there was no attempt at track and trace. The waiter was a clown who was delivering food to wrong tables, we eventually got our onion bhaji starter, which was okay, after it had been sent to the wrong table. The mains we ordered were a disaster, over cooked and tasteless, one naan was under cooked the other burnt, when our disappointment was pointed out to the staff/manager he thought I was joking to criticise the food, when he realised I was serious he said he would tell the chef, no offer was made of a reduction on the bill and he got aggressive when I suggested it. I often read of restaurant managers who dislike people who give a negative review having not complained at the time, I did and it made no difference, having been a regular visitor in the past I won't be going back whilst the current management is in...
