15 minutes to make 2 tuna sandwiches at £4.50 each. Why so long? First, I was confused when I wasn't asked what salad I wanted, so I asked about salad. The answer - "We don't put salad on sandwiches". A few seconds of blank staring later, "Erm, well you could have a salad garnish". Yes, I could. Go and get ciabatta. Prepare one ciabatta. Go and do something else. Attempt to cut the ciabatta. Get another knife. Cut the ciabatta. Put it in the toaster. Put on the tuna and lettuce. Then cut the tomato, which could already have been cut while waiting for the toaster, but there you go. Wrap the sandwich. Then go and do something else. Then try and cut the second ciabatta. Get a different knife and try again. Try another knife. Then put it in the toaster. Why not toast both at the same time? Maybe they didn't want it to go cold. The first one was already cold anyway. The tomato is still sitting there, waiting. Finally add the tuna and lettuce. Then cut the tomato. 2 identical sandwiches. I would have cut all the tomato the first time but there you go, I'm no cafe expert. Throughout all of this, a waitress interrupts regularly to point out things which are already written on orders. This order has no drinks except Earl Grey. Yes, it's written on the order. There's no need to interrupt and point it out. Let her make my sandwiches. Finally after 15 minutes, 2 tuna sandwiches. Oh - were they worth the wait? No. The tuna was watery. Not with mayonnaise but with water. I guess they have to make it go a bit further these days. Overall - average food delivered with frustratingly slow...
Read moreThe most awful experience I ever had! Went for a cappuccino today at Dam Fine Coffee Bistro, and request to be served outside. The lady in charge serving the coffee came outside with two mugs of cappuccino and a very dirty tray with two extremely dirty spoons placed directly on the tray! I've nicely request if those spoons could be changed as was imposible to pop them into our mugs. She has banged the door after her and few minutes later came holding in her hand the spoons freshly washed. Just before giving us the spoons into the heand she has dried them off by her dirty sleeves! That's awful 😖 I have never seen such a service in my life! I literally could see the marks left by the spoons on her jumper sleeve! I have requested again to be changed because something like this is unacceptable! Minutes later came again probably with the same spoons wrapped into a crinkle serviettes and place them directly on the dirty table! So, are you for real?? Why do you believe i have requested clean spoons?? Do you belive is normal to introduce something dirty and full of bacterias into my drink?? The coffee was awful too! Was a mug of milk with coffee flavour. I have requested cappuccino not a glass of milk or a latte coffee! The owner in charge it should train the staff before they get in touch with the costumers, as she was having not a clue what she's doing! I will not recommend to no...
Read moreSitting outside, I glanced over at the bigger breakfast that was served on my neighbour's table. That's a lot of breakfast I thought. More a food challenge without the cheap winners t-shirt prize. It looked awesome: 2 bacon, a cumberland sausage, three hash browns, 2 slices of fried bread, grilled tomato, beans, mushrooms, black pudding and 2 fried eggs. My stomach was still recovering from the enslaught of cheese I had for yesterday's lunch. Else the bigger breakfast it would have been (a steal at £10). Instead an oat milk flat white was all I needed to calm the belly and warm the hands. The female staff members were attentive and humble. The rate at which breakfasts flew out of the kitchen onto peoples tables was reflective of a well run cafe. It may have been cold, but I enjoyed relaxing outside amongst the Lichfield revelers on Bird Street. As always I headed onwards to The Cheese Cavern to fill my bike's luggage compartments with...
