I took my son in there this evening and got asked to leave whilst we were playing pool, as they found cocaine in there toilet and I was apparently the only Person in the pub it could of been Baring in mimd was a few women in there A couple did use the Toilets before me before they left which was after I used the toilet. I assured them I Had not used any drugs on The premises there was no evidence of it being me I then witnessed the owners both grab my son who did point in the owners face but did not touch them police were called as they both put there hands on a minor. This behaviour was disgusting and bullying because Iâm not A regular like the others I was wrongly blamed the police searched me all clean And swabbed me also negative for cocaine. Absolutely disgusted by there language to a minor and threats and How I was made to feel when I had done no wrong. There reason being it must be you there is no one else here that would Forgetting the ones just left off there heads. I canât believe there judgment on people and behaviour towards children. Police also have confirmed we were in no Wrong doing thank you the owners should be ashamed.! Watch your kids in there as he is very aggressive towards them and very rude and arrogant I wouldnât be happy With my children being there especially when he assaulted my son grabbing his finger and bending it making theeats and pushing him about my son didnât touch Him he pointed at him then his Wife grabbed his shirt too without myself An adult being there can you imagine How that makes a young lad feel especially just defending his mum as he knew i wasnât in the wrong we were just playing pool.    Read moreThis pub came with high expectations, having previously won East Midlands CAMRA Pub of the Year and offering dog-friendly facilities alongside three rotating real ales.
The Reality:
Unfortunately, it fell far short of those expectationsâparticularly in terms of cleanliness. While the back garden was genuinely pleasant and well-kept (a real saving grace), the interior of the pub was in a sorry state. Dust, cobwebs, and general grime were visible throughout, and the place had a neglected feel.
Service was courteous and welcoming, but the ownerâs decision to allow the house dog to wander freely created issues, especially as it agitated our own dogs and made for a stressful visit.
The beer (Batemans) was acceptable, though nothing to write home about. We might have stayed longer, but the general lack of hygiene made us uncomfortable. Visiting the gents sealed the decision to leave: they were in a shocking conditionâunclean, dusty, with broken fittings and a sticky floor that left me wanting to leave immediately.
What was especially frustrating was that, despite it being a quiet time, the bar staff were idle. One was smoking in the garden while the state of the toiletsâand indeed much of the pubâclearly needed urgent attention.
As a community pub, itâs unclear who to raise concerns with, but I sincerely hope the owners or locals take action. This place has great potential, but itâs being entirely let down by poor maintenance and inattentive staff. A proper deep clean and a bit of pride in the premises could...
Read moreWhy review it as been closed down due to lack of restrictions of corona virus. We did have a get together for our grandsons 21st birthday on the evening of 21 sept and I must say they didnt take details but do know us but didnt take details off anyone. They did tell us that they are going to take as much money as possible before new restrictions take place. They must of taken a lot of money that night as there was at least 50 people attend the 21st. Really enjoyed it and people did seem to keep to their tables but not cos they were told to as no-one was told to do anything. Shame landlady and landlord weren't more strict as a nice couple. They are a fool to themselves as no job for them now just for staying open when the rules were doors closed at 10pm. Hope the pub doesn't stay closed for long for all the locals who...
