On arrival we were greeted and shown to our seats. Just to our right were a table of about 20 people who were on the bottomless brunch. The atmosphere created by the group was lovely, but all of the attention was on them. Our server, Sian could not do enough and had I been a part of their group, would have left a glowing review.
From our arrival, we were left to wait whilst watching the impeccable service to other tables. 15 minutes after sitting, Sian asked for our drinks order. After which, another 10 minutes passed before they arrived. In the meantime, 2 large trays of drinks were brought to our neighbours. We managed to place a food order and we sat and waited. I have to say the atmosphere was really nice and it did make the wait more tolerable. When our starters arrived, I had to send it back because the squid because it was freezer burned and so overcooked, it was inedible, Sian was busy attending to the large group so I had to call someone over for this who promised to take the cost of the squid off our bill.
In the 20 minutes wait between our courses, we had finished our drinks and wanted to order more. We tried to get the attention of passing servers but sadly, we were not able to. In the meantime, the large group had a further 3 trays of drinks. Sian eventually came over and took our order, the drinks were prepared very quickly and then sat on the bar for a further 15 minutes, our main courses had come out and we had finished them. No apologies were given for the lack of service. I asked for the bill and showed our membership code.
When. I received the bill, I noticed that the squid was still on the bill, I struggled to get Sian’s attention to point this out, she went away to make the amends but said she hadn’t seen us return the food. That was because her attention was solely on the large table. I paid for our bill over £90! All team members bring over a card at the end of the meal asking for a review. Interestingly, Sian had missed this, I wonder why??!
Moving on to the food. We ordered a Jerk sharing platter. I can categorically say that the food had not had any Jerk added at all! The sausages were just normal grilled Lincolnshire sausages. The chicken was really well cooked but lacked the Caribbean flavour that Turtle Bay is famous for. The “half rack” of ribs were in fact, just 2!! Chips, we were given a total of 10 French fries!
All in all, our experience was really poor, for a bill of £90 + I don’t think we will be returning, which really saddens me as we were regular visitors. Just as a foot note, the lovely group got up to leave as we were waiting for our bill and turned to us to offer some of their leftover cocktails that they were unable to drink as they...
Read moreWe went for a valentines treat & had pre booked a table for two.
On arrival we were greeted & shown to our table upstairs. It was very busy & a good atmosphere was generated by the music, lighting, & people happily enjoying themselves.
We were given a couple of menus & were choosing what to try when a waiter appeared with 2 plates of food & put them on our table! I explained that we haven't even ordered yet, he look confused, then the table next to us put their hands up and said it was probably their order.
We ordered cocktails, starters, & mains ... all of which arrived fairly quickly, well presented, & very tasty too. Unfortunately our main courses did go for a walk too & was delivered to the wrong table, before arriving at ours!
We decided to finish the evening off with desserts & asked the waitress if we could order some. She started to input what we chose into her PDA & then looked confused & quickly disappeared to speak to the (I presume) manager.
She came back a couple of minutes later & explained that the table next to us had paid our bill by mistake! So the manager had adjusted the unpaid bill for that table to match what we should've paid, then said the desserts would be complimentary as an apology.
It was glaringly apparent that because the staff have to remember the table numbers, instead of there actually being physical numbers on the table for reference - it was creating numerous errors.
Anyway, we paid the bill & also left a tip as even though there were numerous mistakes, we had a pleasant evening. However, I didn't realise until later that a compulsory tip is added to the bill automatically - therefore I...
Read moreWe booked to have a meal here after already trying turtle bay twice in two different cities and enjoying the food, drink and vibe of the brand.
To save you reading through, the hard hitting point is “IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT”.
We arrived 5 minutes before our booking, we were asked very kindly to head to the bar area while our table was setup. As soon as we sat at the bar our table was ready.
The atmosphere including music was exactly what we expected. Very upbeat and active.
We started off with 2-4-1 Virgin Koladas which were incredible, so much so we immediately ordered two more once we took a sip.
Drinks were readily on hand and never took long to arrive and as long as you hit the timing right you can take advantage of their 2-4-1 deals.
Visiting the brand before in other cities we order a handful of small plates and a side of spiced fries.
Would recommend the following: Garlic Pit Prawns Sweetcorn Fritters Mac & Cheese Bites And Pulled Chicken Doubles
All the food is freshly made in the open show kitchen which adds to the experience and ambience.
Katie who was our server for the evening had so much energy and made great suggestions and recommendations throughout the evening and was a large part of why our visit was such a success.
Amazingly the venue spreads across the ground floor and first floor so there is plenty of room.
Side notes: Toilet Facilities were clean and fresh and had the same music playing throughout. All staff were friendly and helpful. Value for money is well WOW!
4 drinks, 4 small plates and a side and 2 deserts under £50.00!!!
