I have been to the swan many times before now and have had reasonable service, however, this time i was utterly shocked and disgraced at the service we received. We ordered at 13:10 and waited well over 50 mins for food, even exclaimed that we were back in lecture at 14:00 queried where the food was at 13:40 to be told it was being plated up 10 mins later and we were still waiting. One of my friends did not even get the student discount applied which as a student of the university of Lincoln she is entitled to. When the food finally came it was barley warm and i had to eat it so quick as i had approximately 5 minutes to eat and get to my lecture resulting in tummy pain and indigestion for the rest of the day, we were offered it in a take out box but unfortunately we are not allowed to eat in our lectures due to allergies from other students. Another friend went to get a refund due to not having time to eat and was told that her food had been bought out in a box so they could not provide the refund which was absolutely absurd and this food had not come to our table at all when challenged and told to check the CCTV they soon back tracked and gave the refund. Absolutely shocking management and leadership, staff need retraining on how to look after customers and be trained on acceptable ways to speak to people instead of grunting and biting back at customers. Will not be back which is a shame as i quite enjoy a lunchtime pint...
Read moreI came here on my lunch break between seminars with my friends. We all got food and drinks but my friends got their order way before i got mine (i was able to start eating around 10 mins after they finished their food).
Went to the bar downstairs to ask about my food and explained i’ve been waiting for more than half an hour, guy at the bar goes to check and says ‘it’s only been 21 minutes’. So i get confused because i have an email of my order confirmation and the time stamp clearly says it’s been longer than that but apparently that means nothing because the timer starts whenever the kitchen feels like it. Never seen that happen anywhere before and i’ve been working in hospitality for 3 years but sure.
I get my food and at that point im pissed because my friends were just waiting on me, the burger bun was stale and the chips were cold. Also there were no sauces or anything in the pots upstairs so I asked the girl who brought my food over if i can have some because i couldn’t see any. She says she will be right back with some and never comes back. amazing.
Not sure what’s happening with this place because it used to be so good last year but i’m definitely gonna think twice before...

Surely with being on a student campus they should think of the customers and how much time they get between lectures. each time a member of staff was asked about our food they said they would check only to take longer in getting back to us. staff training and possibly extra staff in the kitchen to get orders out in a timely fashion. I understand places can be busy however this could be reiterated when an order is placed so that the customer is aware rather than waiting then not having the chance to choose alternative...
