I really like this local pub. There is a good atmosphere about the place and there is always good music playing through the speakers. There is sports on a few tv’s, games available and quiz nights. The food is ok a bit hit and miss i’ve found. This latest picture is chicken salad and lamb shank. The Lamb was advertised as shoulder but it wasn’t, it was shank. The chicken salad was pretty basic. I’ve had the burgers before and you can’t go wrong with them. Beer selection could be better as not many Belgium varieties for example. It’s a dog friendly pub, has large beer garden and parking is usually ok. Peak times you may have to park on a nearby road.

I want so much for this place to be good but every time I come it disappoints, it was always my local growing up and is great for a drink, but the food really lets it down. Recently we came here and waited 50 minutes for food, when it came out it was cold - another of our tables fish was still frozen in the middle, salt and pepper chips are just chips in sweet chilli sauce - and the cost is the worst part! Charging high end prices for poor quality food is not on.

Very quirky place to visit Sadly It had just opened and wasn't ready to serve us with a morning coffee but it was well worth going in to look at it's inside layout. A place with history. Freddie Mercury (pre Queen) lived in the flat above the pub. Originally built by and lived in by a rich Shipping agent.

Would give it no stars if possible,

Dropped in for a quick bite to eat so ordered a cheese burger and chips, food was great until I notice half way through eating my burger that it was uncooked and pink.

Am not the type to kick up a fuss so just decided to tell a glass collector to pass my burger on to the chef and tell him to cook the burgers properly next time obviously he took it upon himself to decide that I was just after my money back and told me I had ate half of it and laughed in my face before taking it away.

This obviously wound me up so I went to speak to someone else only for the glass collector to be stood smirking in my face again, I was informed all burgers are served this way and if you want them cooked properly I should have asked for the burger to be well done obviously getting my burger mixed up with a T-bone steak.

A simple sorry would have been suffice but not once was this offered, I got home and rang up only to be treated with the same content, the management and staff obviously don't care what impression they leave on customers and I will never step foot in the establishment again.

I have posted a picture of the uncooked burger for anyone wanting to review it to make there own mind up if they expect there food to be served in this...

A month ago I moved to the area with my family. We've been settling in... so as a treat to ourselves, we had made this place a local and gone there several times in the last month. Every time we came in we were extremely courteous and if our children left as much as a fry on the floor or the table we apologised. We even did our best to make sure the floors were as clear as we could before we left each time. We were extremely polite to thestaff and respected them and their workspace. On our most recent visit, one of the bar staff confronted me in a rude/accusatory manner and said we'd left nappies (multiple) in the beer garden. We hadn't... But I wasn't upset that he might have thought it was us. I was more upset in the fashion with which he approached me. It felt like he wanted to fight about it. There was a pure lack of tact and respect on his behalf. Maybe ask if we'd done it rather than accuse. I'm not a child. I'm not a chav. I didn't appreciate being spoken to like that. In fairness, when I came back and explained we hadn't done it. He did apologise. But it was too late. The damage was done. We won't be...

I’ve never written a negative review of anything before but I was so disappointed with the roast here I felt I had to leave some feedback. We love the dovedale for drinks, and have had some amazing food in the past (notably the sausage and mash, which doesn’t seem to be on the menu anymore). But today we tried the roast and I’ve got to say, it was THE worst roast I’ve ever had. For a vegan roast, you’d expect at least a nut roast, at best some kind of seitan / meat alternative. But no, this seemed to be replaced with a giant burnt cauliflower, completely unseasoned and tasteless. The rest of the veg (cabbage, swede and broccoli :| ) was undercooked and unseasoned. The roast potatoes were abysmal, they were burnt, hard and some how chewy (?!) all at the same time. The only redeeming factor was the gravy. The meat roast wasn’t much better. A bit more thought for vegetarians and a basic knowledge of seasoning wouldn’t go amiss, I’d have better spent Ā£15 on a Toby carvery, or to be honest any bog standard chain pub. Vegetarians save your money and get your roast in the egg...
