What an amazing dainty restaurant, that’s just bursting with fantastic food and even better people.
Tonight was our fourth time dining in at Hafla Hafla and I could not have picked a better place for Valentines.
The staff made our evening very special, even with having our 4 month old baby with us. They’re just great. They’re very welcoming, friendly and loved our little boy, they give on-point food and drink recommendations, although it isn’t hard…
The food at Hafla Hafla is hands down the nicest food on Lark Lane, if not, one of the nicest menus in the city.
The tapas/mezze dishes are perfect finger food when caring is sharing. The corn on the cob ribs are probably the most surprisingly tasty menu items on there. I’m not a massive fan of corn, but these take Corn on the Cob to the next level.
The menu is hands down the one of the most accommodating menus I’ve seen too, most of it is Gluten Free or has vegetarian/vegan alternatives.
Praise Oden for the comfortable seating. Comfortable seats are so rare in restaurants these days and the benches and chairs are very comfortable. My partner suffers with arthritis and she was really comfortable for the 2 hours we were there. The restaurant is not over filled too, the table spacing is we’ll planned too.
It is modestly priced too. With a generous tip, the bill came to £80 for 7 or 8 dishes with a...

My partner and I are regulars to Lark Lane and know that this street is extremely popular with diners and those out for a drink. It's a great place to eat out, with many and varied restaurants and bars serving a variety of cuisines. Given the popularity of Lark Lane, we have still managed to get a table when walking into several establishments, even if it meant waiting. Having walked by Hafla Hafla several times, we wanted to try it out.
On entering the restaurant, it was clear that they had approximately 75% of tables unoccupied, including all their outdoor seating (6:30pm). A staff member approached and before we could ask, was told that the restaurant was fully booked. They made no attempt to invite us to come back later that evening or perhaps try booking for a different day, but their curt response came across as cold and unfriendly.
Needless to say, we found a different and very nice place to eat just a few doors down. Interestingly enough, on our way back, Hafla Hafla was just as empty at 8:30pm as it had been 2...
Read moreNot good for people with allergens. The staff weren’t trained to help people with allergies. Had a mild allergic reactions to nuts after telling them specifically my allergies. If you have no allergies though, the food is passable but slightly overpriced.
The menu isn’t particularly helpful. There are no pictures and the descriptions make little sense to non-foodies. What I thought I had ordered (“buttermilk chicken breast”) turned out to be overly fried chicken. KFC would’ve been more enjoyable to eat. Service was not very helpful in their descriptions.
It’s hard finding places that know how to cater for customers with allergies. I understand it is hard to adjust their culinary practices as it eats into the bottom line and causes more stress for the cooks, but spending the effort to ensure all their customers feel safe and included is a long term investment, as people like me spread the word of good restaurants and will always be back for more. I hope they will be more careful next time as some people have far worse reactions...
