Wow! This is an extraordinarily good restaurant. They're newly set up (summer 2025), and that's reflected in a charmingly simple handling of decor, but the food is some of the best I've eaten in Liverpool, and the best Thai food I've eaten anywhere (with no disrespect to the other good Thai restaurants in the area).
The range of dishes is comparatively small, so go with an open mind about what you'll choose, rather than thinking "I always have pad Thai". If you're wary about chilli discuss it with the (absolutely lovely) servers - they know the food very well and can advise.
Enough with the advisories. The food is so interesting, delicious, varied and well cooked. Fish and chicken are bang on - tender and not at all overdone. Herbs are used in zingy abundance. Their use of mint is especially brilliant. Vegetarian and vegan options are great, and a big proportion of the small menu can be made vegan or already is.
Sauces are extremely different from each other, and made absolutely from scratch. Even their coconut milk comes into their kitchen as coconuts not a sealed carton. This focus on fresh and home made is why they keep their menu short, apparently, which makes sense.
Most of the dishes are completely new to me - the baked noodles and prawns dish we had tonight was unlike anything I've ever eaten, and fabulously good. The pear and chicken salad was so spicy I was tingling, but I still spooned up the last of its sour sauce because its balance of sour, aromatic and hot was irresistibly good, especially with the sweetness of the pear.
The parathas are fantastic too. We ordered a second one after our children hoovered up the first with us hardly getting a scrap of it: soft as a good dumpling, inside, with a light crisp surface.
Puddings change from visit to visit, with only one choice, which has made us have the pud each time to try it out. Both were new to me and excellent.
It's worth booking as they are normally busy, but you may be lucky just turning up.
We've been twice, and the lovely staff remembered us after a gap of weeks. They are so warm, kind and attentive, and make our children and us feel really welcome and at ease.
Overall, this is a restaurant that it would be worth travelling a long way to eat at. If you're lucky enough to live nearby, make...
Read moreWe went to Little Clove whilst visiting our daughter in Liverpool. What a little gem. Small and intimate with a very warm welcome. There is a small menu of modern and unfamiliar Thai dishes which makes it an exciting experience, all cooked fresh to order. We are vegan, which can sometimes be troublesome and disappointing when eating out, in terms of choice and quality. Not at Little Clove, we were thrilled with the dishes we chose. We had tofu skewers, artichoke salad, crispy tofu with fruity sour sauce, bursting with flavour and the chef kindly made us the seabass curry with tofu substitution, delicious!!!!! To finish the meal our daughter( non vegan) had the thai custard which she described as a cross between traditional rice pudding and creme brulee, it looked lush and she gave it rave reviews. We will certainly return to this lovely little eatery and if you haven't tried it yet, do, you won't be disappointed. Thank you LITTLE CLOVE, your doing a great job of including tasty delicious and exciting vegan food in your menu. Just to be clear this is not a vegan restaurant and has a fantastic choice of meat and fish dishes on offer too!!!!! We will be...
Read moreI’ve been to this restaurant twice now.
Not only do they serve delicious food, but they also have a fantastic menu that changes with the seasons. It’s not an overly large menu, which I appreciate—it gives each dish the attention it deserves.
I went there for lunch with friends, and it was perfect. Quiet, cosy, with attentive staff. It’s the ideal place for a good conversation between people who genuinely want to listen and connect.
I ordered the Fish Curry, Beef Curry, Spicy Beef (this was from a previous menu, but I called a day in advance to request it), two servings of rice, noodles, and the artichoke salad. Have unfortunately forgotten some of the other dishes.
My only feedback would be for the staff to ask guests about their preferred spice level, so the dishes can be adjusted accordingly.
Highly recommend this spot—and I’ll definitely be...
