Visit Date & Time: Arrived Wednesday at 11:33 a.m. Ambiance & Service: The restaurant was nearly full upon arrival, with only two tables available. The staff promptly greeted me and were at my table at 11:33 a.m. The atmosphere was mellow and LGBTQ-friendly, creating a welcoming and relaxed environment. The space was cozy and provided a nice view of Lark Lane, which made for a pleasant escape from the rain. Table Setup: Notably, there was only ground pepper, not freshly cracked, available on the table. Order Details: At 11:38 a.m., I placed an order for the Large Breakfast and a flat white coffee. I was asked how I would like my eggs (options were poached, scrambled, or fried) and whether I preferred white or granary toast; I opted for fried eggs and white toast. Coffee Experience: My flat white arrived at 11:44 a.m. It was served at a good temperature with a smooth taste, not burnt, and likely made from a light or medium roast, which suggests good quality beans were used. Food Review: My food was served at 11:50 a.m. The breakfast was mostly well-prepared—eggs were fried with runny yolks, sausages had a great taste without being overly herby, and the black pudding was flavorful with a pleasing crunch. However, the sausages could have used a bit more browning. The potato tots were nicely crunchy and puffy. The mushrooms, while initially warm, turned cold before I finished the meal. The bacon was of average quality, and the baked beans were served at room temperature. Unfortunately, the plate itself wasn’t heated, which might have contributed to some of the food cooling down too quickly. Overall Impression: The staff were attentive, and the overall dining experience was pleasant, enhanced by a warm and inclusive atmosphere. While the breakfast was satisfying, heating the plate could have kept the food at an optimal temperature for longer. It was a nice spot to sit indoors, enjoy a quality coffee, and relax away from the weather outside.

Myself and 3 others visited here last weekend. It was very busy but luckily we got a table. We were warned that it would be a 45 min wait for food because of how busy it was. The cafe had nice vibe and atmosphere. They have a large menu which caters for for most diets. For drinks I went with the ridiculously pimmped hot chocolate which was instagram worthy. It didn’t just look incredible, it tasted great! The cream was overflowing out of the cup! My wife and sister got the strawberry milkshake from the specials but unfortunately they had run out of fresh strawberries so just used strawberry syrup instead. They said the shake was nice enough. For food I got the leak and potato soup followed by Sriracha scrambled eggs on toast with chorizo and bacon. The soup was pretty good and the egg dish was also good but I’ve had a similar dish before, and it wasn’t quite on the same level. My sister got the soup as well, followed by the fish finger butty. She also liked the soup and the butty went down well. My wife also got the fish finger butter and she thought it was better than she anticipated. Although it could’ve done with a little more tartar sauce. We got salt and pepper homey’s from the specials to share. They are basically mini roast potatoes with a spicy coating. They were actually very nice. Probably the highlight. Despite the shop being so busy the service pretty good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Although there maybe needs to be better communication because we had a couple of staff ask if we had ordered yet. It was slightly disappointing having to wait 45 mins for food but thankfully we had good company. I would like to try the cooked breakfasts next time as they are meant to be great.

What has happened to Pippins Corner? Something had changed and it's not for the better. Look up my previous reviews and you'll see how positive and generous they are. I talk about stunning service, good prices and great food quality.

Not any more. I'm afraid this review is a stinker because the experience today, well... Stank!

The service was lackluster. No table touches, asking if we were enjoying the meal, we waited for our order to be taken. I ordered Eggs Benedict. My wife ordered a greek salad. I ordered a glass of fresh orange juice. My wife irder d a can of Pelingrino fizzy orange.

The drinks. Prices have been hiked so high, I almost walked away. A small plastic cup of orange juice was £5.00!!!! The cup was half filled with ice, so it was half a cup of juice. A fiver???

My wife paid £3.50 for a can of Pelingrino orange. That's outrageous.

The meals. Again. Prices hiked The quality was awful on the eggs Benedict.

Two eggs. Not soft and runny as they should be, but actually hard yolks. Three pieces of extremely greasy bacon with so much fat on them that there was little left when I took the fat away. So greasy, I l ft two pieces untouched. The hollandaise sauce? Tasted fine, but I'm a clear bid to cut costs and/or increase profits.... Rather than cover the eggs in hollandaise sauce and let it run over the eggs and muffin (as it should)... It was lightly squirted over the dish in a zig zag fashion. Hardly any sauce at all. The muffin should have been toasted. It wasn't.

It was basically cheap greasy fatty bacon with two overcooked poached hard eggs on a white muffin.

It was greasy and not pleasant.

My wife's Greek salad was padded out with tonnes of white onion on large chunks. This had to be removed and the size of the salad shrunk considerably when it was.

The salad was left tasting so powerfully of onion, it wasn't as nice as it should have been.

So, we asked to pay the bill and that they could add two take out cups of cappuccino onto the bill and we would take them away. Our money was taken (including 10.00!!!!!! for the two small cappuccinos... Yes £10!!!) immediately.

After 15 minutes passed, my wife went to the counter to enquire about the coffees. They had forgotten. We were sat there in front of the counter, but just left. Anyway, the coffees came. The waitress said (laughing) "yeah...the chocolate went a bit mad in one of the coffees". We didn't ask for or were offered chocolate?!?... Anyway, on closer inspection, the entire top of one Cappucino was smothered in cocoa powder. So much that we had to scrape it off and pile it onto a plate.

So one terrible eggs Benedict plus a badly prepared salad plus two outrageously over priced soft drinks and two small badly made cappuccinos came to £40!!!

The food, the drinks, the ridiculous prices and the terrible service result in me saying... Avoid Pippins Corner.

Maybe it's had a change of ownership, maybe they've decided to sacrifice service and quality for low cost and high profits... Whatever has happened, this was as far removed from a good experience as it could be.

We have been coming here for a long time. We will now be taking our money and time somewhere new on Lark Lane where we might get the kind of service and value for money that equals a great experience.

Food quality = 2 out of 5 Service = 2 out of 5 Vibe = 2 out of 5 A great little place has become a great little...

Visited her a few times over the past few years and always have great service and food. There is always a good atmosphere and the food is very well priced. Walked down here today and it was exceptionally busy with it being a lovely day, and the longest day of the year. We managed to grab a seat and waited a while to order but this wasn’t an issue as the place was very busy. We ordered and our drinks were brought straight away. Our food took a while to come and we thought this was because it was busy. We then noticed tables who came in after us had been given their food and were nearly finished. I called one of the waiting on staff over and told her we had waited over 35 minutes for our food. She went to the kitchen and came back to tell us our food order hadn’t made it to the kitchen. She apologised and told the man who served us. She came back and said we could have our drinks for free. The man who served us came over and apologised. He said it was his mistake and that he would have the foods rushed through. Our food arrived on an other ten minutes with another apology. Which was well received. The food, as always was very nice and of a great quality. We asked for the bill and the man who had served us, and lost our order, came back with the card machine. He apologised once more and asked if we wanted another drink on the house as we had waited a long time. We declined as we had eaten and drank enough. We said it wasn’t a problem and mistakes happen. We do believe mistakes happen but it’s how places deal with these mistakes that count. At least here, the staff member involved accepted responsibility and compensated us with free drinks. The apologies we received also really counted and meant a lot. We have been to other places before where this has happened and staff don’t take responsibility, then leave you waiting longer for food. We would highly recommend Pippins Corner as the food and drink are good value and of good quality. Staff members are also very friendly and down to earth. We...
