Used the Crosby branch - If there was anywhere that deserved one star or less it's this place. Recommended by friends so thought we'd order, what a mistake.
Ordered via Crosby eats at 16.45 for delivery at 19.15, however delivery turned up at 17.30. Turned them away as we were putting our little one to bed and it defeats the object of preordering for a set time if the food arrives early and has to be let go cold. Driver said they'd be back at 19.15 with fresh food.
At 19.25 we rang back to chase up the delivery and were told it had just been handed to the driver. Okay we could live with that.
However 20 minutes later still no food so we ring back and get told its with the driver and they can't chase it up. After 20 minutes pizza starts to go cold so me and my partner are sceptical. Another 15 minutes later, bang on 20.00, so 45 minutes late and 35 minutes after it left the shop the driver pulls up and get the food out of the boot, with no sign of it being in a heat bag.
Took delivery however before even sitting down to open the boxes I could feel they were cold. Driver disappeared and so a phone call to the shop after for a refund and for them to collect the now cold pizzas and soggy chips ensued. The original lady tried saying we had to take it up with Crosby Eats, however this is difficult when the shop marked the order complete so we didn't back down. Eventually, a male came on the phone who I presume is the branch manager and after being told what had happened and stating we wouldn't recommend them told us we were being professional. He stated the driver would come back for the food which we were fine with then abruptly hung up. A short time later the Crosby Eats order was cancelled so hopefully the refund will be processed! Would never...
Read more1* for lovely manager.
We ordered 2 pizzas and two salads. Both pizzas were cold, the veggie one stone cold; the toppings hadn't been cooked! The bases seemed to have been cooked at some stage (and burnt in places) and toppings thrown on later. The toppings were fridge cold. And no tomato sauce to keep toppings on the pizza. We spoke to the manager(?) and explained the problem. He was lovely and agreed to replace the pizza adding chips. Unfortunately the replacement pizzas are nearly as bad as the originals! Cheese not melted again. And, overall the veggie pizza is undercooked. The meat pizza is poor, with paltry toppings, and again cold. The small, oversalted chips were actually warm, nice herbs too. The "salads" comprise of : 5 x tomato 1/2 slices 5 x mozzarella pieces 3 basil leaves Oil Vinegar. £5 each!
Very nice manager (and delivery man) shame about the appalling food. *Apparently Pitfire is new 🤷 but they need to up their game if they're to survive in the pizza business. We obviously won't order from here again 😔 We have taken photos but photo option isn't working.
*Edit, nice manager's been in touch... Apparently the pizzas are supposed to be served cold!?!? Go figure. He's also asked us to go down to the takeaway and take up his offer of free food. If we do we'll report back here to give our opinion of our experience. So...
Read moreLooked the part but a bit disappointing:
If I'd have ordered a margherita it would probably have been a better experience as the base was fine, sauce nice and cheese nice, but I ordered the N'duja pizza and it resembled n'duja only slightly in appearance, being that it missed the red colour n'duja sausage normally has and it is made from beef, which I just don't get. Other than that, it just tasted similar to samosa meat, as I'm sure it was mainly cumin and chilli powder in slow cooked mushy ground beef, so I think they should rename it or just use actual n'duja sausage, especially at almost £12 a pizza. Also, the salami was not good quality and resembled what I would expect on a Domino's pizza (spam-like). Had to taste the base, sauce and cheese separately to the other toppings as otherwise the salami and olives meant that the overriding flavours were salt...
