Last night my friend and I were refused service here — for literally dancing during their own karaoke night. The crowd was loving it, people were up on their feet, the karaoke host was happy, and even the door staff admitted they didn’t understand the issue. But one particular staff member clearly had a problem with people enjoying themselves.

We’ve got her on camera complaining to security and to us — despite the fact we weren’t drunk, aggressive, or causing any real trouble. Just dancing, smiling, and adding to the atmosphere. She even accused us of being ‘erratic’ at the bar for no reason — something that genuinely shocked us.

To make it worse, other customers outside told us they’d had similar experiences here when they dared to dance.

So if you’re planning a fun, carefree night — maybe keep your dancing shoes for somewhere that actually welcomes energy and enjoyment. The bar next door was more than happy to have us — no complaints there.

No doubt they’ll have something negative to say in response — but luckily, I’ve got footage of the whole exchange, showing the appalling attitude we received. I’ll also be making a request under the Data Protection Act for any CCTV of us dancing, just to prove how harmless this really was.

I even thought the staff member was joking at first — I smiled and tried to get her to join in. Turns out, having fun here is the problem.

I have sent the footage around, it shows a true story of the service offered. What a boring place to be.

To reply to your comment on the review, this was last night…. Yes we did get told to stop dancing and then the woman behind the bar. Can you provide your email so I can have this cctv footage just so I can prove how ridiculous your member of staff was to us about dancing, you should have signs up saying you have a no dance policy. It was ridiculous. We visited at 22:05 on the 23rd June 2025 that’s when I got the first round of drinks and then we started to have a dance and your staff member told us to stop, even for the door staff involved and when we had others up dancing with us I went the bar she said no, I’m not serving you because you’re dancing erratically, what on earth is dancing...

We visited Ranelagh's Tavern again last night, as we like the friendly atmosphere there on a Saturday night.

The only thing that spoilt the evening was that the disabled toilet was unusable due to it and the floor around it being cover in urine. We're not talking about just a few drops here. It wouldn't have been any worse if people had aimed at the seat. I saw at least ten fully able-bodied men go into the toilet in the time we were there.

My wife is totally blind. She asked me to take her to the ladies toilet rather than use the disabled one. After showing her where the toilet paper, flush, wash basin and hand dryer were I waited in the bar, outside the ladies. I was then told by a member of your staff that I wasn't able to enter the ladies toilet as it could upset other women. The same member of staff then used the disabled toilet himself. When he came out after using it, I spoke to him about the state of the toilet and he told me that he'd had to wipe down the seat and around the toilet. It's totally unacceptable to expect any woman to use a toilet that is covered in urine. Woman really don't want to have to clean toilets and get their shoes and clothes covered in urine on a night out.

Can I ask that a Radar lock is fitted so that only those people with a disability Radar key can gain access, keeping the disabled toilet for...

Brilliant bar to relax in, let your hair down and have a drink, or 2, or 3...hey, I'm not judging! 😉😂🤣 Brilliant location, right facing Liverpool Central train station. Very friendly bar staff and management. Very friendly, welcoming and approachable door staff, who really are there just to make sure everyone enjoys their night. Karaoke on certain nights, DJ on also. Also, which I'd like to add...VERY reasonably priced drinks. You'll leave knowing that you haven't just been fleeced for drinks, even though it's in the city centre.
