I visited here a few months ago with my boyfriend and had a good time. I returned to Liverpool this weekend with a small group of girls for a friends 18th birthday and recommended that we return here.
There was a fairly large queue to get in, which we were waiting in, to then get dragged out by one of the workers who said we can go in by the side entrance, which was a “girls only queue”. As we go over and go to get our ID’s out, the bouncer requested to see our bank cards and didn’t take one look at our ID’s.. not all of us had our bank cards on us (as this is clearly not an essential to get into a club and we had cash) He then said we need our bank cards as “proof of ID” and to see “if the names on our bank cards match our ID’s”.
I have never heard of this in my life and questioned since when was this as I have been before? He refused to let us in without our bank cards. I was so confused? We returned to the lady worker and explained this and she was clearly playing along that it’s weird and then mentioned some people try to get in with fake ID’s.. well none of our ID’s were FAKE and considering he didn’t even take a look at any of them if he did he would have been able to realise this and let us in. I really don’t understand how a bank card is a form of ID? Surely the security of SOHO - being in a city would be more advanced and at least have the equipment to determine if an ID is fake or not? Ie the torches security have elsewhere? I then saw the same thing happen to another group of girls as we walked away and they were also refused to enter.
I was very confused, disappointed and embarrassed. Very poor service and did not expect to receive this treatment and it is very unfair as we spent a lot of money to visit Liverpool for...
Read moreI would give this zero stars if I could. This is an honest review of what happened and I am not a fan of victim mentality but when its this obvious it probably needs to be told out.
My friends and I enter with very ID's and everything is checked and we are let in. We go to the bar for drinks and we are asked for ID's again. Never happens at any bar, they did not answer us as to why our ID was checked again. They took our ID's scratched them to check if they are real and even peeled off a the card layer. The manager was absolutely useless. They said they don't identify my id and I offered to show my passport on my phone for proof of date of birth. They decided to kick us out for absolutely no reason saying words they should not have. I confronted the lady at the bar about what she said and she denied. We spoke to the main pub manager and he was sorting it out, while that happened the bar manager comes and asks to kick us out again. again, for absolutely no reason. We are Indians and showed a very eligible driving license which we use for all places as proof. I do not want to label this anything and I don't know if they think we are uneducated but they know what they did. I do not have to prove myself to this level. Very disrespectful team. We were only there for a good time but clearly its not an ideal place if you want to be treated properly and you are of a...
Read moreATTACKED BY SECURITY. We visited Soho yesterday around 6pm and as we were leaving approx 7pm we were attacked by the security staff on the door. About 7 doormen started to repeatedly punch and push several members of our party down the stairs as we left. After the commotion, one of our senior members approached a doormen to try and understand what had happened, he was then punched in the face for no apparent reason.
One of the doorman (who didn’t get involved) apologised and said that shouldn’t have happened however the rest stood back looking like they were ready for round 2.
Several other groups (witnesses) came over with ice and to offer their assistance. All confirmed we had done nothing wrong.
After speaking with doormen on the bar opposite and reading quite a few of the below reviews, it seems SOHOs doormen have a reputation of being Aggressive / confrontational for no reason.
We have raised this altercation with Merseyside police.
All in all we had 4 head injuries and 2 bust lips.
Summary: good music and great service from the bar staff. Unfortunately the experience was overshadowed by the overly aggressive bouncers who couldn’t make it as professional boxers and obviously therefore have a lot of built...
