Hello everyone! You'll find the Michelin-recommended Spire, which is certainly worth the effort to find and the additional expense of being such a highbrow restaurant. However there are plenty of fixed price meals with multiple courses that are excellent value, so even if you're feeling a little light in the pocket department you can still enjoy a highly accolade restaurant.
The service here is really top notch, it can occasionally be a little slow but it's friendly and attentive and that's what ultimately matters. Even the owner gets involved which is always a good sign. There's a wonderful atmosphere and the decor is more than gorgeous, but it's the food that's the star here, especially the crispy squid starter with chilli sauce and pak choi. Mouthwatering deliciousness. There's no particular food 'theme' here other than painfully hip and modern, hence why you'll find gnocchi and mushrooms accompanying turbot on the same menu, but I loved all the combinations. The portions aren't massive as you'd expect from a restaurant like this, but they're certainly...
Read moreHad been wanting to go here for a long while so maybe I had too high an expectation. Sat down and was looking at the menu when the waitress asked us what we wanted to drink. Difficult to answer really as there wasn't a drinks menu on the table which we pointed out to her. She came back, and shall I say kindly, 'despatched' said menu onto the table (flung). Well you have now. Thank god we had cash with us as the couple on the next table were told that the card machine wasn't working and were told to go to the nearest cash machine to withdraw cash. Overall, not ravin Mary. Overpriced considering the service and...
Read moreVisited recently for a special evening out. Had been recommended by a friend and it really fulfilled my expectations.
The decor inside was lovely and it was very busy despite it being a Wednesday so I would definitely recommend booking.
Had a fabulous starter of king scallops accompanied by a glass of prosecco and a main of beef wellington. Both courses were delicious though I did wish at the price my starter was larger. Decent wine menu and a few items at the lower price point.
Disappointed that the additional vegetables took a while to arrive with the main but I'd put that down to how busy the restaurant was.
I really enjoyed the meal but definitely one for a special occasion as it is pricey. Also only having one vegetarian starter and main on their a la carte menu really isn't good enough. Should be at least two on...
