Tl;Dr: lovely staff would point out each of what we ordered. Lovely venue with nice plating. Overpriced and underwhelming food. Don't bring a non-vegan friend here to convert them from fish sushi.
A lovely venue inside and out, and happy staff.
Unfortunately a bit of a let down for us. The bottomless sushi is the only way to go here. I cant imagine paying £15-25! for any of these individual plates. However, even with the bottomless sushi, it is priced a lot higher than anywhere else I've been for similar, likely due to the location and smaller venue.
We arrived early at 6, for a 6:30 booking, to be told our table wasn't ready. The photo of the restaurant in my review is how it was at 6, and we were then sat at the nearest empty table 30 minutes later ...that was supposedly not ready for us?
We then ordered some of the crispy rice and Nigiri after we sat down. It wasn't until another couple had come in with their 7pm reservation, were sat next to us, and then received two large full plates of sushi each, all before our first order had arrived, did we realise something was amiss. A server then came over to let us know that they'd lost our order and that's why we hadn't got out food yet, but they'll bring us over a complimentary drink as a sorry.
The drink was appreciated but we came to a bottomless dinner hungry and were even more so 1:15 after we had arrived to the restaurant, and 45 minutes after our booking.
It could have all been saved with the food, but it was all quite underwhelming. The fried rices in particular were a bit bland and cold, (even for sushi, and round 2's second try confirmed it. They were definitely prepared as they were now a bit stale, soft and colder). By the time we did get around to a 2nd round, it was a quick journey as we didn't wish to revisit half of the menu, and we couldn't swap out some of the hand rolls for the flavours we did actually want. (They should all be being hand made to order anyway? Why can't I have the 2 flavours I do like, and leave out the ones I don't. It's unlimited sushi, I'm asking to save you resources and me from having to eat the one's I'm less fond of).
I understand the choice to make the venue the type of restaurant it is, due to the size and location. The furniture, decor and plateware were all lovely (sans the plastic taco holders), and I'm sure others will enjoy their visit. However I don't think I'll be returning or recommending anyone go, even if...
Read moreIt's been almost 6 months since we've been there but the experience was so disappointing that I still think about it and felt compelled to write a review. The service was mediocre at best. The server, looks like he was new at the job, as he offered us a table in the garden but another server told him that they don't seat at the garden after certain hour. The server also didn't recognise the food on the plate as he was serving it and after just 20min couldn't remember what he served us and ask is our opinion about the dish we did not have. This server had only three tables to serve and spent most time looking at his phone and cleaning glasses. The food was underwhelming. Most sushi tasted the same with little differences in flavours. I am a big fan of sushi and this was disappeared. The kicker came in the bill that you pay with your phone using QR code and it has 20% service charge included which is says it was optional but no way to remove it. We were too polite to call the server and tell him to remove the 20% service charge despite the fact he did not deserve this having barely provided any service. 20% of the overpriced, mediocre sushi is a lot... Would not recommend this...
Read moreMy friend and I visited 123V for late lunch yesterday. It was our first visit and we were both very impressed. The restaurant is small and quiet inside, but there is outdoor seating too.
We were served by 2 members of staff - both were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the food served. We opted for the two hour bottomless brunch, which for £36, is great value. In that time we were brought every dish available from the menu, and had time for another 2 of our favourite plates. All the flavours were amazing and complimented each other well - my non-vegan friend said you wouldn't know the 'zalmon' was vegan. Very impressed!
I would highly recommend 123V for vegan and non-vegan sushi lovers. They also serve cocktails, non-alcoholic cocktails and coffees are served with gluten free, dairy free milk for those with allergies.
We'll be back again soon - and hopefully this time I'll have room for one of...
