Sabretooth is such an incredible place one has to be grateful it can exist. Upon entering, I immediately got lost in observing the multitude of memorabilia hanging from the wall and in every corner, each of which contributes somehow to the beautiful, incoherent harmony of the place.
The owner, Suki, is a graceful human being that seems too nice for being in London; in addiction, he's incredible at his craft: I got served the best looking chai latte ever and, while I was sipping it, the smell coming from the stove made me want to come back at lunch time. The food is affordable, and perfect in its simplicity. I am not over-using the word "best" when I say I had the best curry I have ever tried.
Suki runs this cafe on his own, keeping it open 10 hours a day every day, Monday to Sunday. The hygiene is impeccable, and the care for details is unparalleled. Such an unbelievable effort, both in terms of quality and quantity, made me feel grateful to him for working so hard. He receives plenty of love from all his customers pretty much everywhere, but still one has to wonder if it's enough to repay him for creating and keeping alive this gem...
Read moreI was really excited to try this place after reading the consistently rave reviews and seeing the minimalist menu.
I really hate to do this to a local business, but I feel like people ought to know that is place is overrated for dinner and not worth your money - unless you’re looking to be underwhelmed. You’d expect a place with only five dishes on the menu to do them all well. We ordered four of them - destiny bombs (pani puri that any authentic Indian restaurant does as well or better), banana fritters (thick lumps of fried banana far too sweet for a starter) and both thalis (£16 for daal is taking the piss; the chicken had no flavour / spice).
The atmosphere is truly nice, however, and the drinks were pretty tasty. I would go for drinks and skip the food in the future.
I feel bad saying as much but I also feel that people should not fork out almost £100 for an average dinner for two. I have always been skeptical about Google reviews and all hail saberooth (all lower case)...
Read moreI had the pleasure of having my 28th Birthday hosted at Sabretooth and let me tell you, the owner Suki is the heart and soul of this place.
My favourites drinks/dishes were the chai espresso martini, destiny bombs, chicken curry and of course the crumble for dessert. I also enjoy his coffees and chai tea!
Not only is Suki generous with the portions (seriously, I don't know how he manages to fit so much deliciousness onto one plate), but he's also one of the most thoughtful and caring cafe owners I've ever met. He's such a community focussed man and you can tell by the way his regulars pop in daily/weekly.
And let's not forget about the atmosphere. The cozy seating and warm lighting make you feel like you're lounging in your own living room, except with way better food and a way better host.
I highly recommend Sabretooth Cafe to anyone who wants to indulge in some seriously tasty food and experience some seriously good vibes. Suki, you're a true gem and I can't wait to visit...
