I ordered an iced matcha and paid using Apple Pay â the green tick appeared confirming the payment. I was still standing in front of the till taking a photo of my drink when the woman who served me suddenly raised her voice and said, âYou didnât pay!â loud enough for the entire cafĂ© to hear.
It was humiliating and completely uncalled for. I hadnât even moved away from the counter, yet I was treated like I was trying to steal a ÂŁ5 drink. There was absolutely no need to speak to me in that way.
Iâve worked in coffee shops myself during university, so I know how these situations should be handled. If a payment doesnât go through, the professional and respectful approach is to calmly explain and ask to try again â not to publicly shame someone.

   Read moreI was extremely disappointed with my recent visit to this coffee shop. I was charged ÂŁ9.15 for a banana loaf and a soya latte â an outrageous price for a takeaway order. Upon questioning the staff, I was informed that the higher âeat-inâ price was applied because my banana loaf had been warmed up. Unfortunately, I was neither asked if I wanted it warmed nor informed that this would incur an additional charge.
I find this practice highly unethical â charging 75p to warm up a loaf without consent is unreasonable, especially when the price difference is concealed in this way. To make matters worse, receipts are not automatically provided unless requested, making it even easier for such charges to go unnoticed.
I strongly advise checking your receipt if you visit this place â and be sure to ask for one if itâs not given. Sadly, this experience has left me feeling misled and disappointed, and I wonât...

The owner tries to salvage the situation and refunds the money to a card that does not belong to me. Insists itâs my card, despite the number not matching my card. I still donât have the refund in my account. Their incompetence-meets-arrogance attitude has permanently soured this cafeâs image for me. I used to be a regular but wonât anymore.
