We’ve been to this restaurant a few times before and enjoyed it. However, our visit tonight was far from good. Firstly, the music was terribly loud and seemed a little incongruous given the vibe of the place. When I asked politely for it to be turned down they did so and the waitress admitted that it was the chef’s favourite music (sadly not the customers’ favourite music, clearly…). Secondly, when a dish was served mistakingly and we addressed it we were made to feel uncomfortable due to the attitude of the server. Lastly, we never wanted two of any of our choices but were served and charged for two of a couple of dishes. We noticed this after we’d paid the bill. When I brought this up with the dark haired waitress she was incredibly dismissive and rude. She said (her words): “We assumed you wanted two” and blamed me for not specifying I only wanted one of each (we never said we wanted two of these couple of tapas). I didn’t ask for my money back even though the waitress who actually took the order admitted it was her mistake. I did not appreciate the misleading way items are listed on the menu and the dark haired waitress’ attitude when I raised this with her. I will think twice before going back. Jose on Bermondsey Street offers better quality at comparable prices to Andanza and certainly...
Read moreLovely little tapas bar near London Bridge. It is small inside so you may want to eat on one of the tables on the pavement where you will have more room. I am a vegetarian so chose veggie options. My partner had a couple of fish dishes. We over ordered and the food came out fast so at one point I got a bit overwhelmed because the table is small and was wobbly. You may want them to slow it down a bit. The food was tasty. I felt it was a bit expensive, we didn't have any drinks, only tap water, with service charge it was £75.37 for 9 dishes, and we didn't order meat. Next time I will order less so it will be a bit more reasonable. The staff are brisk but that's probably because it was busy. The staff and the manager stood near the front door vaping which was close to our table. I know you can smoke/vape outside but I felt it didn't look very good, and they could have stood away from us as by that time we were the only people sitting outside, if they had gone a bit further down it would have been more polite. If they can be mindful of the smoking near to customers and slow the speed at which the dishes are brought to your table I feel it would be much improved and I would give it five stars. I may sound picky but when you are paying high prices, everything...
Read moreExtraordinarily expensive, even for tapas. For a cuisine that revolves around the practice of sharing, £7-£9 often being the price for a slice of/spoonful of something atop of a single slice of baguette, leaves you feeling somewhat wronged.
More than anything, I’m happy to pay a wildly inflated price for something that tastes exceptional. But none of the food was seasoned at all, to the point where I asked for a bowl of serving salt. Which perhaps this is subjective but I went with another person who also agreed (Not that that is a sample of the population).
The good’s though: the Tortilla was maybe the best I’ve ever had and the sausage was incredible. Hell, I would have been happy to have ordered this on repeat. They were delicious, well seasoned and shareable. The staff are also lovely, which makes it hard to write something so damning.
But its just too hard to overlook spending £200 (140 on food, 60 on wine), with most Pinxos being £7 ish for small singular items, that more or less, struggle to be shared. A deflating and leave-feeling-hungry experience that felt more expensive than...
