I really can’t see what all the good reviews are about after having breakfast here. I do not normally leave reviews, but for some reason I was very annoyed after eating here.
I ordered a vegetarian breakfast: two poached eggs, toast, avocado, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, beans.
Firstly, the place is very overpriced. I paid £10 for the above. Two poached eggs, which were made very well, however, yolks were ever so pale - for £10 I would expect better eggs. The avocado was nice - crushed with lemon and had some good taste to it. The toast, tasted like descent quality sourdough, however it was not buttered and there was no offer of butter. The toast was also overdone which made it VERY hard - very difficult to cut with the blunt cutlery that was provided. The grilled tomatoes were, well, tomatoes. The mushrooms were grilled as if someone had left them on the grill and forgot about them - hard and dry. I then asked for some ketchup and brown sauce to wet my pallet enough to allow the food to glide down easier - I was presented with two tiny bowls, one with ketchup and one with brown sauce - to be completely honest, there’s more sauce in a Burger King sauce sachet than was in the bowls - it was enough for one bite, two at the most. The BBQ beans tasted homemade from scratch and were not bad. The service was ok, I was greeted well on arrival. I was given some tapwater at the start of the meal but during the meal I wanted to order a further drink. This did not happen as I was never given the opportunity to order another drink.
Overall, VERY overpriced for what you get and for the quality of the food and size...
Read moreArchies Restaurant delivers a delightful blend of comfort food and casual elegance that leaves a lasting impression. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance feels warm and inviting, with modern decor, soft lighting, and a friendly buzz that sets the tone for a relaxed dining experience.
The menu at Archies offers a thoughtful variety, with something for everyone—from hearty classics to lighter, health-conscious options. The starters set the bar high: the crispy calamari was perfectly cooked with a zesty dipping sauce, and the truffle fries were addictive without being overly greasy. For mains, the grilled chicken alfredo stood out—creamy, rich, and well-seasoned, served with a generous portion of pasta. The vegetarian burger was also a hit, packed with flavor and texture.
What truly elevates Archies is the attentive service. The staff were courteous and knowledgeable, offering great suggestions without being intrusive. They maintained a perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness, making the dining experience smooth from start to finish.
Desserts are not to be missed—especially the cheesecake, chocolate paired beautifully with vanilla ice cream. The drinks menu complements the food well.
Prices are reasonable for the quality offered, making Archies a great spot for both casual meals and small celebrations. Whether you're dropping in for a quick lunch or planning a dinner with friends, Archies hits the mark on atmosphere, taste, and service.

Read moreI took my mum here for brunch yesterday, having been here once before & finding the whole atmosphere and food pretty good. Unfortunately we were both quite disappointed. Would love to see this place do well and being a local I was super excited when they opened, just hope they can smooth out a few things. Service was pretty slow initially, I had to go and ask for a menu after we’d been sitting down a while. The coffee wasn’t great, they use Climpson beans which I think is by far the best roastery in London, but the milk had been over heated, over frothed etc so flavour wasn’t really there. They got the food order incorrect, nothing major - I asked for smashed avo, when it wasn’t in the dish I asked the waitress if it was coming separately, she says ‘it’s in there’ - had to show her the insides of the sandwich to prove it wasn’t! The worst thing however is there was a ~10 minute gap between my breakfast arriving and my mums which is not on. We queried it, were told it’s coming next, only to see another table served all their breakfasts in the meanwhile. Seriously?! This is really not great customer service, I wasn’t going to sit and eat my breakfast whilst the person I’m with is still waiting on theirs.. by the time it did arrive it was fine, though obviously mine was a little cold by then. I do want to try Archies again so I hope they’ll take some of this feedback on board and maybe next time the coffee will be awesome and the food timings will...
