I wasn’t sure what to think when my partner suggested going for a coffee in a disused public toilet, but i’d always wanted to try Attendant so was excited to visit a special venue.
Obviously it was clean, but I still found the experience a bit gross - the walls are naturally grimy looking and the novelty wore off quickly for me. It’s a tiny, cramped venue with minimal seating - with barely enough space to move between the tables (and urinals), it wasn’t the most comfortable experience.
Still, staff were friendly and we managed to get seated. Service was good and we were brought tap water without asking, which is always appreciated. We ordered a long black and a flat white, both lovely coffees which I would recommend.
Unfortunately, we then seemed to commit a cardinal sin - enjoying a pastry from a bakery down the road alongside our coffee. We were told off by staff in front of the other customers and ordered to put this away - not something I’ve ever experienced in a coffee shop before, considering we’d bought drinks.
This ruined our experience and while I would try Attendant coffee again, I would not return to or recommend this venue. We also decided not to tip on this basis - a shame, as this would’ve covered the cost of a pastry bought from there.
(For the record, the food at Attendant looked awesome and I would try it in future. We just didn’t appreciate being treated like naughty school children when we’d...
Read moreIf you are looking for somewhere different to have a coffee then this is definitely a good spot. The Attendant is a converted 18th century gentlemans loo with many of the original fixtures still in place. Don't worry though - they've definitely had a good clean!
Situated just minutes away from busy Oxford Street The Attendant is a tiny little retreat away from the onslaught of chain coffee shops. Stepping down the stairs and past the graffiti board you are greeted with a selection of different savoury and sweet treats. All of these hover between the £3-7 mark depending on what you have. I've had the savoury breakfast sandwiches and the cookies and both have been really, really tasty. The portion sizes are pretty generous and the food is actually very tasty. I'm not usually a big fan of food in coffee shops but they really take a pride in their food here. On the weekends you can also get brunch.
The coffee is supplied by Caravan and is thoroughly enjoyable to take away or stay in. If you are able to find a spot within the limited seating available however it's a really nice place to spend some time alone or with friends. The music being played is always good - in my humble opinion - and with vintage magazines and daily newspapers it's definitely a place to chill...
Read moreBeing a coffee lover this place was on my list for a long time and finnaly I got there! Attendant Coffee Roasters is known for its unique location in a converted Victorian-era public toilet, which gives it a quirky and distinctive atmosphere. Little bit of research The coffee shop was opened in 2013 by three friends who shared a passion for coffee and wanted to create a unique space where people could enjoy high-quality coffee in an unusual setting. And I must say they did it well! The interior of the shop has been designed to retain many of the original features of the public toilet, including the original tiles and Victorian-style urinals, which have been repurposed as seating. They serves a range of specialty coffee drinks, including espresso-based drinks, filter coffee, and cold brew. The shop also offers a selection of pastries, sandwiches, and other snacks. Only downside is the fact that They have just a few seats because of the size of the shop itself.I had my coffee to take away and It was really good.I highly recommend this coffee shop for coffee lovers and tourists looking for a unique and...
