🍟 Handpicked Fish & Chips – A Standout Experience at Bag O’ Nails! 🐟

Tucked near the regal Buckingham Palace, the 'Bag O'Nails' restaurant is a charming gem that combines a wonderful vibe with a fantastic location. My recent visit left me with a mostly positive impression of this establishment, where the energy was palpable, the servers were welcoming, and the ambiance was delightful. The first thing that struck me upon entering was the inviting atmosphere that seemed to envelop the space. The well-thought-out decor and cozy interior immediately set a warm tone for the dining experience. The lively vibe was infectious, and it was clear that this was a place where locals and tourists alike could come together for a good time. Speaking of the location, it's hard to ignore the allure of being in such close proximity to Buckingham Palace. The historical grandeur of the surroundings added an extra layer of appeal to the overall experience. There's a sense of being part of something special as you dine in this location. The servers at 'Bag O'Nails' were a true highlight of the visit. Their friendliness and warm demeanor created a welcoming environment that made us feel right at home. However, it's worth noting that there were instances where getting their attention was a bit challenging. Given the restaurant's bustling nature, it's understandable that they were juggling numerous tables. While this did slightly affect the overall experience, it's a minor quibble considering the busy nature of the establishment. Now, let's talk about the food. The Fish n Chips, a British classic, was satisfying in its own right. However, it did lack a bit of the distinctive flavor that I've come to expect from similar dishes at other establishments. While it wasn't a disappointment by any means, there was room for a bit more seasoning or a unique twist to make it truly memorable. In summary, 'Bag O'Nails' near Buckingham Palace is a place that encapsulates the heart of London's charm. The vibrant atmosphere, friendly servers, and excellent location create an ambiance that's hard to resist. While there might have been some minor issues with getting the server's attention and the flavor profile of the Fish n Chips, these are small blemishes on an otherwise enjoyable experience. I would certainly recommend this restaurant for those seeking a quintessentially British dining experience with a lively twist.

Bag O' Nails, nestled on Victoria Street in London, England, is a hidden gem that seamlessly marries traditional pub charm with the quintessential British dish, fish and chips. Upon entering, you'll be immediately captivated by the warm, inviting atmosphere, complete with a delightful bar. The bar at Bag O' Nails offers an extensive selection of libations, from classic cocktails to a wide array of wines and craft beers. The skilled and friendly bartenders create a perfect setting for pre-dinner drinks or a night out with friends. The cozy, dimly lit surroundings add a touch of elegance to your visit. Now, let's dive into the food. Bag O' Nails doesn't just serve fish and chips; they elevate this classic dish to an art form. The crispy batter enveloping the tender fish fillet is cooked to perfection, delivering that satisfying crunch with every bite. The accompanying golden fries are exactly what you'd expect from traditional pub fare – crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Don't forget the mushy peas and tartar sauce, which complete the dish with their authentic flavors. This dedication to crafting the perfect fish and chips is a testament to Bag O' Nails' commitment to preserving the essence of traditional English pub cuisine. It's comfort food at its finest, and it's evident that the chefs take immense pride in serving this beloved dish. In summary, Bag O' Nails on Victoria Street is a must-visit for those seeking the ultimate fish and chips experience in London. This establishment seamlessly combines a welcoming bar with outstanding, traditional pub food, making it a cherished spot for both locals and tourists alike.

While visiting London and checking out the sights, we stumbled upon this gem, and VERY glad we did!!! Outside then in, this place felt like the old-timey pub that we wanted to stop at. They had a good selection of "pints" to choose from, as well as bottles for cocktails. The menu had an excellent selection of menu options to choose from. We were trying to find the traditional menu items, and here they were! The restaurant was full. About half the room appeared to be business clients, but almost all appeared to be locals. We looked at the plates around us and we decided against a starter...the plates had large portions of food! We went with the steak and ale pie as well as the fish and chips, and eyeing the sticky toffee pudding... that was happening regardless! The steak and ale pie came w/buttered mash and a merlot gravy. VERY rich and indulgent! The gravy was crazy good. The fish and chips filled the plate! The fish portion was huge. The triple chips tasty, and the smashed peas were a pleasant surprise! There was no way I was going to be able to clean that plate. Then there was the sticky toffee pudding!!! We decided to go with the ice cream rather than the custard. I am sure they would have both been great. Like the mains, the desert was a large portion, and the perfect size to share. The pudding was more like a brownie than a classic pudding also. The desert was very rich and the flavors were incredible. Just warm enough to soften the ice cream, making each bite perfect! If we would have found this gem our first day, instead of our last, we wouldn't have eaten anywhere else! As "Yankee" tourist, this stop had everything we were looking for. I can't say...
