Casa do Frango captures the essence of Portugal with it's rustic yet contemporary decor, featuring warm colors, traditional tiles, and a variety of stunning plants making you feel like you're in a tropical paradise. The atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing and inviting, very modern and chic whilst having true Portuguese decor in place.
The menu offered a variety of authentic Portuguese dishes with a modern twist. Absolutely loved the Croquettes sprinkled with piri piri mix and mustard sauce & the Prawns with the famous piri oil, that became my absolute favourite. We also called for an additional table sauce that just took this dish to the next level. The Piri-Piri chicken & Lemon Garlic chicken, both presented in the best old school way, the piri piri chicken was bursting with flavor however the Lemon Butter could've had a little more flavour as the chicken tasted quite flat, the chicken however was tender and juicy.
The Chocolate Mousse had to be and absolute winner among the deserts. The sweetness, the cocoa, the texture , everything was an absolute delight and the true meaning of perfection. The Bolo do bolacha for dessert was the something I'd def go for again too, creamy custard and the flavour of marie biscuit in it was pure nostalgia. The Hazelnut and Dark chocolate Ice cream was super smooth and something that one could never go wrong with ordering. Truly relished it all.
The service was another highlight of my experience at Casa do frango, very attentive, and super welcoming. Our server Bhumik, was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations and was so much fun to talk with. Even while it was a busy night he never failed to put on a smile and stop by every time to check if everything was good & if we needed anything. We thoroughly enjoyed some of the classic cocktails. The bartenders Srihari and Shanaal recommended some great options which made me give the Cider a try which took me back to my college days and I couldn't thank them enough for their recommendations. The staff in the kitchen always had a smile and it made my experience even better.
An authentic yet modern Portuguese dining experience with great food, fabulous service and a...
Read moreReally liked this place, entrance to the venue is between two huge office blocks, but within an easy walk from London Victoria Station and Victoria And Wilton Road!
I was recommended to go by my sister who resided in Portugal for 30 years and now runs the Portuguese Chamber just round the corner!
If you thought Portuguese food was represented by Nando's think again, whilst you can get chicken here, it's prepared in the traditional Portuguese way flattened out and doused in chilli's or in my case Lemon and herbs. Try the Chorizo, delicious chewy chorizo sausages with homemade black olive mayo and guindilla peppers, with pickled chillies and a rich dipping sauce, or try the Portuguese empanada with kale, spinach & caramelised onion (a bit like an Indian Pakora)
I chose for mains (as a pre-theatre trip to see Wicked at the Victoria Apollo) piri piri chicken with lemon and garlic, it retains its moisture, but it's bbq on the menus it's listed as Half chicken, grilled over wood charcoal, brushed with our secret piri-piri blend!
To wash it down I had Super Bock, Portuguese Beer, in Portugal there are two main local beers Super Bock And Sagres, both available everywhere! They now do a zero alcohol version but it's £5 a pop!
We were very well looked after and if I ever go up to town again (as my last visit was around 10 years ago) I'll come again. The staff were attentive and friendly (and in our...
Read moreWe had a very good experience at Casa Do Frango. I should admit, Portuguese food is not my go-to, or even something I thought I would enjoy as much - I feel it can be generic and things you can easily cook- However this place changed my perception altogether. They use a mix of ingredients that make the food taste special. The menu has a wide variety of dishes for different preferences of meats or vegetarians. We had a few things to share as we wanted to try different things. The Wagyu meatballs are a must, and same with the Peri Peri chicken. And the hispi slaw was a very good surprise for a salad. Of course, no to miss the pastel the nata. Another positive surprise is the coffee. Portuguese-sourced and very well made, had a flat white that was excellent. The ambience is also great, there are so many details in the decor of the place, and the set up, that clearly shows how the owners have been thoughtful about this place. Service was good too, however we went there at 2:30 PM which is not peak time. I’m making this distinction as I see some of the last comments are related to the service. We interacted with a couple of people from the staff, and they were lovely and responsive. All in all, happy to come back and...
