I never usually leave reviews but the service my friend and i received at the blank street ludgate circus store today was terrible. We walked in after work to a girl working alone behind the counter who was chatting to her friend on the customer side of the counter. We stood waiting a while at the till while the girl very slowly made a drink for her friend and didn’t acknowledge us at all.
When she turned to serve us, the previous friendly attitude she’d had when she was chatting to her friend completely disappeared and she asked my friend questions about her drink in rapid fire, blunt, monotone, single word answers. As if she were annoyed at us for interrupting the conversation she’d much rather be having with her friend. She turned to make my friends drink and went back to chatty happily to her friend as if she’d never spoken to us and passed my friend her drink without looking or saying anything to her. And then served me in much the same manner.
This is not the first time i’ve had rude service in a blank street but it was definitely the worst. I appreciate she may not love her job but i don’t go into a place being rude and i don’t expect myself or my friend to be treated as an inconvenience when i’m ordering a coffee in a literal coffee shop.
I’d avoid the Ludgegate Circus blank street like the plague if you see a pale girl with long dark hair and (maybe) glasses working in there unless you want the rudest, bluntest service of your life. :)

I usually have a coffee before I sing but didn't have time this morning so I was really wanting one by noon (I'd been woken up at 6 too so wasn't feeling that chirpy). Compared to Sydney (where I used to live) London's indie coffee is hit and miss. However I was absolutely delighted with Blank Street at Ludgate Circus. I went for a large cappuccino. Service was friendly, quick, the coffee the perfect temperature (ie v hot but not boiling), and the milk of a delicious creaminess. The flavour was delicious (I don't know if they roast their own beans but it tastes as though they might), if less strong than some, though I could have asked for an extra shot in so large a coffee, and I expect their flat white would taste stronger. I didn't eat anything but it all looked fresh and yummy (eg their cinammon bun) – also not a given in London... Happy to have...

The coffee here is exceptional, and the service provided is truly exceptional. It's an all-encompassing experience, making it the perfect destination whether you're in a hurry and need your coffee to go, or if you prefer to take a moment to savour it on one of the available stools, all while enjoying the captivating views of Ludgate Circus.
